Lovebird baby's

By the way, they are very beautiful Love Birds...What species of Love Bird are they? Fischer? I couldn't tell. I looked for a hand-raised, hand-tamed baby Love Bird a few years ago, I wanted a blue/black Fischer or one just like the ones you have, I absolutely love the blue/black colored Love Birds...Unfortunately I couldn't find ANY near me, not hand-raised or parent-raised. Lots and lots and lots of Peach-Faced and whatever the other ones are, the masked ones which I also like, but no blue/black ones...
That was a lengthy reply [emoji16]. Much appreciated! I meant nestbox. To cut a long story short.. Since I live in the Amazone region, the day's and night's always start at the same time year around. Always 12 hours of daylight here. They get a lot of veggies daily.

I don't know why you think I don't feed them veggies. There's a picture in previous post showing them eating fresh veggies [emoji3]. They love beans, lettuce and corn. I also give them hot peppers, but they don't eat them. Pellets they really don't like. But I keep trying. Eggfood cuttlebone and other nutritional is also always available to them.

I'm really surprised how active the hen still is after this period.

They are peachfaced. The hen is grey (in Dutch it's called double dominant blue) that's why the chickens are blue. One has grey tail feathers and the other blue tail feathers. So I think the grey tail is female and the other male. I tested the pelvic and I think I'm right in this [emoji41].

But I can bring them to the local petshop to be sure of their gender.

Breeding block? i'm not familiar with that term after breeding for 20 years, lol...ought oh..

If you have them together and there is any type of nest box/small, dark box or place that they can get to, or any type of nesting material/bedding available to them, even in the bottom of the cage, then they will mate if they are a male and a female and they are already bonded, especially if they've already bred.

That's what you get when English is not my native language [emoji23]. When I don't know the right translation, I literally translate. But often that doesn't work [emoji4]. But the parents are still together as the baby's are just over 5 weeks old. I don't think I can separate them yet.

We will see what happens.

LOL, I apologize, I seriously thought that a "breeding block" was some common piece of equipment that I wasn't aware of! I didn't realize that English wasn't your first language! Sorry about that...

The hen was getting aggressive to her mate and the chickens. She attacked everyone and everything in her sight. So even though the chickens never left the nestbox, I decided to take it away.

She obviously didn't like that and kept attacking the male and her chicks. So as a last resort I put her in a separate cage. One night alone calmed her down real good. The father takes good care of the chicks and one of them is already eating seeds and veggies [emoji3] and flying around the room like he/she is boss.

Anyway. All is well and the chicks are super tame. Not afraid of humans at all.

Thanks all for the advice. I already had some experience breeding budgies, but this was my first time with lovebirds. It was a great experience and now my lovey's can get some rest while I design and build a nice aviary for them.
