Jacob a sun conure who found me!
So yesterday I got more stuff for Jacob... This was the pile..

this was before, and remember I've been sick so don't judge the dirty cage....

This is after, I have got a ladder so he can climb the whole way from the floor to the top.. With more toys and a few on the outside...

Then we went on a short hike the other day, it turned short cause the pain before Dr's visit killed me...

Cool, you got him a Happy Hut! I'd move it a little so he can go in one end and out of the other. The dog looks like he's thinking WTH is he going on me. LOL

Cutest pictures ever!!! Literally brought tears to my eyes they are so cute! Jacob riding on your dogs back... priceless! haha

Do you worry about having Jacob just out and about outside? I've heard that even clipped birds can fly away if the wind hits them right though I don't know how accurate this is or how far they would really get... I want to take Lukah outside but I'm always worried about this. He's been outside a few times but was spooked by cars and dogs and it was before I head about the wind/clipped still being able to fly stuff.

Jacob is stunning! And your doggy is really cute! What fun little fiddos you have!

The cage looks great. I love how your dog and Jacob get along. Thats so awesome!! :)

Nice pictures. Jacob, is a cutie. It sure does not take long for birds to create a mess. You just given me a idea to encourage Captian Jack to check on his playgym. I will buy a ladder that he can climb out of his cage door and put the wooden gym by his cage.

Wow! These photos are amazing! :)
I too am interested in hearing about whether he can fly too far. I would love to take my GCC outside when we get him but would be too worried he'd fly away!:(

Cool, you got him a Happy Hut! I'd move it a little so he can go in one end and out of the other.
Great tip! Will remember this when setting up my cage!

Boomer, thanks for the idea with the Happy hut :)

And kellie when it comes to Jacob Im not too worried, he don't like the idea of flying away, he don't try to, and he got out a while back afte rI first found him and he was still flighted, he comes back once he figures out how to descend. Once I find a good way to get him into a harness I will let the wings grow back out and train him for future free flight. He even got chased by a territorial bird at that place and he was far away down the block and then some, I called him and he doubled back, he just don't know how to land or figure out the height so to say, he needs training in that. Once that's good, he is good to go and he loves it. He is also very bomb proof, I got this odd bird who's not scared of anything, we have ridden the train, been in public areas and he's just chill, this guy will go to anyone and let anyone pet him, BUT if they try to take him from me and ask him to step up he will pinch them. If I take him and him over he's fine, and anyone is allowed to pet him, and he will try to feed the world. .(flirt bird)

Accidents can happen of course and its always a calculated risk, but that goes for most things in life, that day it wasnt very windy for example..And if Im by the road, he's in his carrier for example, until we come to final destination but he really enjoys the outings oh and riding in the car oh lordy he loves it.

He just enjoys being out so much that I cant take it away from him for fear of what can happen. If its very windy yes I do not take him out, or he's out in his carrier or we go to Petco. If there's a ton of dogs that are unruly in Petco I pop him back into his carrier too those kinda of things, but he's out and about a lot. Keeps him tired too and out of trouble.. LOL and he's finally starting to utilizing his gym and ladder more, has taken him a little while to really accept it..

I just spent a hundred bucks on Oliver and Mia (name pending haha)! Crazy how it adds up but I just want them to have everything :p

Jacob is stunning! Looks like a fun outing :)

I love those hiking photos! and what a great collection of new things you got :D

Just throwing this out there, the happy huts and other tents can be extremely dangerous and I would never use one. Many birds have died after getting tangled in them, some the first night they had it. Please use it with caution.

Thank you :) and yeah I did read the warnings but so far he's non destructive with it (knock wood). He sleeps in itand snuggles it.. He loves rubbing his head on it and the beak.. lol If he starts chewing out it goes.. He dont like chewing on cloth (thank god my clothes are not suffering) he's a wood kind of bird.. I have no perches left but everything else looks great ;)

Wow!! He looks so happy :) I'm so glad you're his new parront because you are taking such good care of him!!! I want to take Meiko on a hike, but he's too scared of everything still. He loves car rides, outings, but he has to stay in his carrier, so he can't really take it on a hike! It's heavy. I take him to the grocery store, Petco, the park, the beach, but just not a hike yet. Soon, though, he will go on a hike with me!! I love hiking!!!

Great photos! I love the ones with the dog! :D

Oh my gosh I love these pictures!!!! He looks so happy and I love all the toys you got him!!!! Rory loves his Happy Hut, and he never chews on it.

Loved your pics!

I have made a cage I carry on my back for outings. I cut the front off an old backpack and secured a small budgie cage in the back part. Put some shade cloth over the top. It works very well and Cheeky loves his outings. You need to carry water separately or you end up spilling it down your legs when you put the backpack on. LOL!!

There quite a few good vids on YouTube on training a bird to accept a harness.
