RIP "pineapple" lovebird
So my life has been, as my mom puts it, interesting.
I have trained race horses for a living for the past several years but I just don't want to deal with the industry anymore. Clients don't pay their bills if they don't win races, and let's face it, only one horse wins a race. Plus they're athletes, they get hurt, sick, etc.
So anyways. I completed two years of college and have always wanted to go back. I just can't figure out how to afford it.
So I've been working on rehoming a few horses, collecting the current delinquent bill that's owed me, and figuring out how to start classes either for nursing or teaching degree. I found a job that would allow for this.
I already did the first test for it, second test is Tuesday. I'm so nervous!!! It's a 911 dispatch job so an EXTENSIVE 45+ page background is also due on that day. I have bills that have gone to collection over the last several years while trying to make my living through the race horses. I just hope that doesn't keep me from the job which I hope would take me to more stability.
I still have a few horses to rehome (I'll keep the ones I've bred and raised and train them
As a HOBBY on my fathers and I terms instead of for clients that don't always pay).

I just hope I do well on this test and pass the background check. I spoke to a state police officer and he said many dispatchers take college courses because you have ample time as long as you handle the calls when they come in. Which is PERFECT.

So nervous. They said it takes about two weeks to get the results of the test and the background check.

Meanwhile, my father is having open heart surgery on dec 7. He has been my biggest supporter (besides my mom), and has always been a rock.
So it's a little scary. I am flying home to Boston for the surgery due to the generosity of a friend that booked it using some of his millions of miles. (So grateful for this).

Anyways... The test is Tuesday.

Good luck! Wow, there's a job in a serious line of work in this day and age that lets you have a book open on your desk while you're on the clock?! Hey, now that's multitasking... sounds perfect lol! I hope you get it :).

Fingers crossed, prayers, and good vibes to your dad on December 7th. I'm glad you were able to go see him. Hugs to you.

Lots of good vibes your way. :)

I know things seem difficult and chaotic right now but don't worry! Everything will fall into place for you.

Best of luck on the test and with your future nursing career. I'm glad you'll be able to keep horses on your own terms.

Bless your friend for helping you to fly home to Boston to be with your dad for his surgery. I hope the surgery goes smoothly and wish your father a full recovery. You'll both be in my thoughts.

Gosh, you certainly do have a WHOLE lot on your plate!!

First thing's first: Best wishes to your dad for the upcoming surgery! May he recover quickly and fully!! So glad you'll be able to be there for him!! :)

Best of luck for your second test (tomorrow already???)! You got this! You can do this!!!

I'm sorry to hear that clients haven't been keeping up with their monetary obligations!! But I AM happy to hear you'll be keeping and training the foals you've bred!! Speaking of foals, how are they doing???

HUGS to you!! Don't forget to breathe!!!

Thinking of you! That is a load at the moment, but once all the testing/training footwork is done, it sounds like it'll be a very positive change! Fingers crossed for your Dad's recovery x

Thank you everyone!!!

My dad is saying he's not at all concerned about his surgery but I think he's really relieved that I'll be there.

As for my stress level, I just hope I pass the test tomorrow AND the background check. I
Should know by Christmas.

Wendy- I'll take some pictures of the wee ones when the rain goes away!!!

Wishing your Dad a successful surgery and comfortable recovery!

Good luck with your job application and progress to a new and rewarding career.

Now time to sleep a little.

The test was very.... Different.

Tough I would say.

So we will see. Approx two weeks I'll either get a call or a letter.

Just as an update my dad's surgery went well. They found a hole in his heart they didn't know about and replaced the planned valve.

This evening he was moved to the step down unit (from the ICU).

Outstanding, glad to hear your Dad's surgery went well. Family first!!

Hope you are nearing good news regarding your application!

Well today I called to speak to my dad and he told the nurse he wasn't up for it. Can't say he's EVER in his life declined my call. So I cried.

I checked my mail box tonight and nothing yet. Letter means disqualified. Call means interview.....
