Looking for suggestions

Just thought I would pose one more point and please anyone correct me if I am wrong but I understood that oak is not a bird safe wood so I would think oak plywood might pose a risk?

I'm actually not sure. Each place I read has conflicting info. like the quote below.

"Oak (except Tan Oak which should be avoided because of the VERY high tannin content) though there is some controversy about Oak it appears that the wood should be safe. the bark leaves and especially the acorns have much higher levels of tannins and should be avoided. While many bird species including many parrots regularly feed on nuts and vegetation that have levels of tannin much higher than oaks, it is unclear how their
bodies deal with the substance and it is therefore probably advisable to avoid high doses. "

But now I'm most likely going to use the acrylic and place several 40" perches up along the side of it.

GORGEOUS birds!!!! And that Java Tree. AWESOME!!!!!!:D

Also: THANK YOU for your service. From the bottom of my heart! My husband is retired Army, and my son is currently at Ft. Benning going through OCS. :)

LOL, thank you! Your very kind. It's all about keeping them healthy and happy.

You bring up a good point. Cleaning would be easier with acrylic. Your obvious, yet overlooked suggestion may have just solved the entire issue. I will just pick up few 40" perches to compensate for the lack of bars horizontal to climb on. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Teka does do well with Quaker. But I just don't know how he will do with a bird larger than him.

:D I'm the obvious suggestions specialist LOL My birds are my company while my partner is away at work as well. I think birds rival dogs for that purpose, they really are like having a small temperamental human around LOL

I agree with you. We have a zoo here, but I love it. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, and a 300 gallon salt water reef tank that's been up for years. Toby, my Cardigan Welsh Corgi is the top favorite of them all hands down. I call him my PTSD service dog because he is so in tuned with my emotions and needs. But each of the others has their own special and different place here. With the birds rapidly moving to the top.

So after a nice investment, the huge sheet of acrylic arrived for my cage divider. Not only is it huge but its also more than 50 pounds. The bigger issue is that I completely underestimated how clear this stuff was going to be. After installing it I actually forgot it was there and smacked my hand into it as I tried to reach through to the other side of the cage. As you know this creates a rather big issue. For now to resolve this I tossed a bunch of painters tape on it so the birds don't end up slamming into it. The journey continues.

OUCH!!!!

That is a FANTASTIC idea with the painters tape!! I hope it holds up for you. Are the strips on Teka's side or on Ruthie's?

Thanks Wendy. The tape will only need to be there for a little while. As soon as I find a good source for reasonably priced 3/4" rope, I will just hand a cargo net on each side. That way the can still see each other but will not be tempted to fly into it.
