CAG Quincy - BD 3/27/00. Gotcha 6/00 ~ GW Macaw Savannah - BD 6/21/93. Gotcha 4/13 ~ B&G Macaw Coqui - BD 9/3/03. Gotcha 10/13 ~ Blue Crown Conure Sidney - BD Unknown Approx 5 Years Old. Gotcha 6/15/
So I now have 2 wonderful parrots. I've had Savannah for 2 months now and I absolutely adore her! I've always wanted a macaw and I couldn't have found a better GW Macaw then Savannah. She has been great!

I knew deep in my heart I wanted to still adopt a B&G Macaw even after having Savannah. An opportunity came up for a rehome (a little too soon really) and when I talked to my hubby he said two was enough. Well I was heartbroken, not because I couldn't adopt this B&G but I didn't think there would be any chance my hubby would like me adopt another bird. Just by his tone.

Well I talked to him at the pet store the other day, trying to bring it up again :D, and he said that if we did get one he would be willing if we get a baby he can handle from the start. He's had some bad experiences with Quincy and because of Savannah's age and her hesitation to let anyone else handle her right now, he is a little gun shy of trying. I'm hoping we can get him handling Savannah at some point, though.

So now I know a B&G can be in my future! Which I'm very excited about. He/She will be my last addition to my flock. I want to find out if anyone can recommend a good breeder for B&G preferably in the North East but if you know of an excellent breeder who ships with care, I may consider that, too.

I have not totally given up on the idea of adopting a rehome if we can find the right rehome, but if not I want to get a handle on a good breeder. I am hoping to adopt in 2015.

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated! Thanks for reading my long post. Some of you may know I have the gift for gab. LOL! :D

Having a handfed baby does not guarantee your husband will be able to hold. It would take some training and such so adopting a older one can be just as good. Of course the baby can be the sweetest little angel like one of our member on here, tab! ;)

Thanks Mikey, I do realize that. But if it makes my husband more comfortable to try handling a younger bird, that works for me. We both know there are no guarantees and like I said, if we can find a sweet rehome, it's not out of the question to do that.

And yes, Fargo is a sweetheart! :D

That's understandable! If I never hold a large bird and the first one decides to bite me I would be afraid too...lol.... ;)

I had Quincy 3 years before I met my husband, so Quincy and I had a pretty strong bond. Then hubby got added to the mix. I don't imagine Quincy was totally thrilled! They have a love/hate relationship. We joke about it all the time. He loves his Daddy, just from a distance. LOL! :D

My husband is great and is really trying to be supportive of my love for birds. And yes, he has gotten a few good bites and he's not really a bird person. He married into it. Poor guy. ;)

Good luck Blanca! I totally get it. Congratulations on the change of mind and big time congrats on the win/win compromise.

Thanks LindyLou! It will all work out in the end! It's just nice to know it can happen. Gotta love my hubby for his willingness to change his mind and compromise! :D

Sorry for the late reply. I was driving all afternoon yesterday. I'm on a mini vacation in cape cod with my family. :D

Parkersmom - thanks! I will be sure to check it out!

Wendy - I am very excited! I don't plan on adopting until 2015. I want to give Savannah a chance to settle in and save money to buy a baby . I'm a big planner so I check things out early! ;)

Not too say if the right bird turns up we may adopt sooner. As soon as I'm done with this post I'm going to check out your links! :D

Sssaucy - thanks, I'm not adopting for a couple of years just doin' some planning. :)

OMG Wendy! I love the location of this place. I go to a candy show once or twice a year in Atlantic City. I could stop there next time I'm down there. I'm so excited to check it out!

Parkersmom - these guys look like wonderful breeders! Thanks for sharing. I've got it bookmarked!

WHAT??? Well next time you come this way, PLEASE...pretty please stop by!! :D

Ursula, the owner of Fancy Feathers really takes GREAT pride in her babies. She socializes them well, keeps the place immaculate, and is head over heels with all her birds. Oh, and brace yourself when you go...she's got quite a few Hyacinth Macaws, too. :) Her pet Hy "Gucci" is quite the character. :D

My girl B&G should be coming home from the breeder sometime in early July and I'm soooo excited:). She's coming from Birdie Brains aviary in VA. So far Christy has been amazing at answering questions and all. One of the babies was reserved but came up as available yesterday! I know you're not looking at getting yours right away but she's definitely worth looking at:). Birdiebrainsaviary.com
