2 umbrella Cockatoos One male named Cooper and female named Baby 1 Little Corella male named Frankie and have 5 Cockatiels three named Male named Pepper, Fiesco for the female and female named Wylie.
Looking for a new metal travel cage for a Cockatoo. I had A couple Solid acrylic travel cage, but they fall apart and donā€™t hold up. So looking for different option? I have done the modified cat carrier with perch, but looking for something better.

Here one looking at, but other options would like to know that will hold up to a cockatoo and is large enough.

I can't speak to the size, but I can sure vouch for the top quality of King's Cages in general. :) I've also heard good things about that travel cage from someone who owns one for their Amazon.

I have a couple of the smaller version of that transport cage (I have conures), and they have held up well. Theyā€™re easy to clean, lightweight and sturdy. I canā€™t speak to how they would do with a cockatoo though.

May be worth investigating what is available locally in pet shops as some small dog crates make decent carriers without the cost. Kings are the best undoubtedly but are heavy and costly.

I was thinking about using a dog crate that heavy duty, but about $450 for a good one and the others pet taxis they call them that sold at the local pet stores are the same as cat carriers. My female U2 pop the door very easily. She pop the door and got out and flew off to many times. She hates them. Once at the vet as she remembers the building and 10 minutes before she decided to fly back as she hates the going to the vet and she hide behind me as I go into building. This time around looking for a cage type that she canā€™t bust open and fly out. My males U2 doesnā€™t mine the pet taxis, it my female U2 that hates them.

Something light is prefer but something they can see out of and perch without having to lean. The Solid acrylic just donā€™t hold up well and fall apart after a year. Tried two different ones.

If you find something, please let me know. I worry about the metal types used in dog crates, but I have to have a full cage for Noodles wherever we go because her travel cage (the largest I could find that she couldn't snap open) is still far too small for her to sleep in--- esp because she tends to flap in unfamiliar environments if she hears a small sound. I feel bad keeping her in her travel cage even during the car ride! That having been said, full-size cages aren't cheap or portable!

Mine would hate that. I can show you what I use-- it's too small, but it is possibly larger than that one--- at least, as far as usable climbing space/horizontal length. Again, both are very small. This is the one that mine tolerates (I think 8 hours, with breaks) is the longest I ever pushed it. She never sleeps in it (it's just for the car).

I was thinking the acrylic cage is to small as well due to 15 wide only as my female U2 would likely hate it as well.

I saw this a well and is not glue together like the other acrylic travel cages that fell apart? Donā€™t see the weight? Leaning towards the kings cage.

I can confirm that the Kingā€™s is lighter than most of the others out there. I have the one that Noodles posted as well and itā€™s a bit heavier than the Kingā€™s one. I also have a pak-o-bird and an acrylic. I prefer the Kingā€™s Aluminum for being light weight and it feels very sturdy and well made.

I going to order the Kings cage likely later today. Seems to be the only option and size would be fine as she been in a acrylic cage that size.

The pak-o-bird I looked at for outside car, but at $429 for a backpack is a little overpriced for a backpack? Worried Baby and Cooper would tear it up in no time? Then again not really familiar with them? I wanted to get one a year ago, just not sure how it hold up and for that price? I usually just keep my bird on shoulder when outside, or let them fly, or keep them on a harness when donā€™t want them to fly off. Only going to use for winter mainly below 40 degrees mainly, or vet. The cage is for long road trips to replaced the falling apart acrylic cage.

The pak-o-bird would not hold up well to chewing if they could get their beak on a seam. My conures donā€™t really chew up their surroundings - but I work with cockatoos at the rescue and they chew on everything :)

I managed to get a couple with double slide and twist locks on that were second hand, whether they needed it or not they got a really good clean/wash and are brilliant. One I use as a night cage for the G2.

Last cat carrier well she busted out the door to many times and chewed large holes in it. Once as she didnā€™t want to go into building as she knew it was the vet and she actually pop the door and flew away for 10 minutes and then came back around and Argued with me once I bought her inside anyways and hide behind my back.

Celltei now make seam covers (same as the zip protectors) which can be added to cover the chewed seams.

Try adding carriage and UK Value Added Tax on top. They now have more seam protectors which I am gonna add to my POB and will deffo invest in for a new one. These are a real boon, stops a screaming Goffins by going for a walk, even a short one.
