Coqui stepped up on my arm today. 3 times at that! She has always been a perch girl and has not stepped up for anyone on the arm until now! Love our progress! :D

Thank you both! I am proud of my little Coqui for taking that big step! :D

What are you doing with her? I have a sweet girl that is petrified of stepping up! She'll let me pick her up but won't actually step her feet up on her own! She doesn't bite or anything though!

How long have you had her? Congrats!

Thanks everyone!! :D

Once I knew she was comfortable with me I would put my arm on the perch in front of her. She would put one claw on my arm. She did this a lot when petting her. She likes to "hold your hand" when getting cuddles. :D

I gave her lots of praise. Then she put both claws. Lots of praise. After a few days of that I went to get her out of her cage. I put her perch up as usual but then my arm between her and the perch. She had to step up on me first to get to the perch. Up she went and I took her in the living room giving her LOTS of praise! We took the pics and I put her on the play gym. I picked her up twice more to come sit in my lap. She hesitated but she did it. Be sure to take baby steps, be patient & lots of praise! I chose to finally go for it when I new she really wanted to come out. Worked like a charm. But remember we worked up to this. ;)

How long have you had her? Congrats!

I've had her 3 1/2 weeks now. :)

That's awesome! And encouraging for me, too! Simba is still not sure about trusting me inside his cage.

I have a perch on her door. To come out she goes on that perch. Try a door perch.
