I was digging through some old pictures this week and guess what I came across?? Pictures of Sidney! My very first bird and the bird that started it all! He was the cutest little Quaker parrot. I had him about 2 years. He got out and flew into a tree one night and we managed to get him back the next day. Well 3 months later he passed away. :(

But I loved this guy so much while I had him! Here are pics of him in 1999. Enjoy!

How sweet Blanca! What a beautiful little guy Sidney was :). I'm so sorry you lost him, those feelings are never forgotten, but but you also have the precious memories of him now. I love going through ancient pics of Robin and past fids. Such memories.

What a gorgeous boy he was, I am so glad you found these pictures. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it has been awhile, but time only dulls the pain a bit, it seems:(
So is this Sidney's namesake?

I actually scanned these onto my computer so I have a permanent spot to keep them. All these photos were in those old magnetic photo albums that we all know are not great now! Sidney has a special place in my heart always. Especially since he is the one that started my passion for birds. :smile015:

I will never forget the day I lost him. He died in my arms on the way to the vet. :( But I have a lot of good memories of that goofy little guy! :) Yes, I always loved the name Sidney so I decided I would name my Blue Crown Conure Sidney. Funny story about that is I didn't know what his current name was and told the kids "it would be nice to name him Sidney like my first bird". Well when I emailed the woman where I adopted him from and asked his name, she told me "Sid". My jaw dropped and I knew it was fate for me to adopt that little Blue Crown Conure! :smile015:

Sidney was a beautiful little fellow! I wish he could have spent many more happy days with you. So hard to say goodby but they hold such a special place in our hearts for all time. Thank you for sharing your sweet memories!

Thanks Allee. :) It's been fun digging through old photos.

I love this thread.
L'il Sidney was a charmer. Precious pictures, precious memories.
My first bird was a turkey. My grandparents raised turkeys and chicken. I would play with the babies, especially the turkeys... I have a picture somewhere of me at about 1 year old trying to grab one... I'll have to find that.

Sid/Sidney? Yep, that's destiny!
