Hi I'm new to bird forums but decided to join as I have been browsing through the numerous topics and fine them interesting and informative. My father used to keep cockatails when I was younger, I remember we had two called Chirpi and birther who we later made an outside avairy for and they also layed eggs. Though sometime after a hole somehow got chewed in the avairy and they all flew out lol. We've had a cat, two dogs and tropical fish in the past but haven't had a pet for a long time and I felt that was missing. I decided I would like to own a bird or two as I like their playful and interactive nature. I've been reading up on the types of birds best suited to my lifestyle and what I can offer. I first thought about a spectacled or green rumped parrotlet as it seems quite independant but also loves social interaction obviously. Though I was put off by the regurgitating thing they do but I do know all birds do this lol and so I then thought about two budgies as they would regurgitate to each other lol and have never kept budgies. Also they would be company for each other when I am not around, I would be around mornings, some afternoons, evenings and all weekends. I know you can put in lots of toys for one bird and it is easier to train/ tame one bird but I do feel this would not be fair on the bird. I have read up on many different species of birds/ parrots but know that with most parrots you need to be their all the time as it can be like looking after a child, just like you need to be there for a puppy. No matter what breed I look at I just can't seem to stop loving the budgies lol. I do like the quaker a lot but thought that the amount of noise might be too much and don't fancy something that can scream or make high pitched sounds noiser than a cockatail. Anyway that's enough about me lol I will be looking to get two budgies in october time as I will be going on holiday late september. Many thanks for reading.
