I may be purchasing this bird off of Craigslist.

Small Amazon Parrot

His name is Pinpen and he is 20 years old. Does he look healthy? He is not on a good diet as the owner told me he is eating a Walmart bird diet. He also says he is semi tame and if I worked with him he could become tame. I would really want to rescue him as they are getting rid of him for personal needs. They said he is not loud or aggressive. He said I could meet him before I bought him. I would like to here your imputs because he is in Panama City which is a two or three hour drive from me.

I'm no expert, but if it was me I would get him. He will of course need the diet change and all, but I think he looks as good as can be expected.

A vet visit for a well bird check and a quarantine would be a MUST, in my opinion,

Oh cute, that's not a lilac crowned. It's a white fronted! They're the smallest of the Amazons I believe. Not much over 200g, and some not even that!

He "looks" fine, but unless he's brought to the vet for blood chemistry tests, bacteria and yeast tests, AND viral disease tests, there's no visual way to say if he's "truly" healthy through and through. Good luck!

Well looking at those pictures he does look healthy. But a good Pelleted diet with some fruits and vegetables will make him alot more healthy since the poor bird is on a Walmart diet. Ask about any veterinary backgrounds, or if you need to take him to the vet. For safety reasons, I personally would before taking him home. I have a friend who has a white fronted amazon and he is extremely cute, tame and cuddly. They are not loud though, from what i've heard and experienced.

I believe that with a little bit of positive training and bonding, Pipin will be a great parrot! Just make sure not to stress things. :)

You can never be sure without a vet how healthy he is or isn't, but he sure is cute and if you're able to take on another parrot, I wouldn't wait for someone else to get this cutie! I would expect if he's been on a mostly seed diet for 20 years, he may have some health issues, more than likely reversible or manageable with an improved diet:) The smaller zons are known for being really good birds, so I'm sure with some TLC this guy could make a great companion!

He just sent me a picture of his cage. It has one perch in it and no toys!!!!!!!! I cant tell the size of it so I asked for diminisons so I can get a new cage first if its not appropriate. He said if I work with him he will become really tame. He also said that Pinpen will say Ok. I will try to rescue him if it all works out.

I would get him a new cage anyway, that one looks super rusty, like it was outside all the time. Good luck, I hope everything works out and you take him!
