He's taking to this taming thing quite nicely:) so I've spent the passed three days in the same room just hangin out pretty much all day since it's the weekend lol and he gets nervous when people walk in but when I talk to him he calms down and fluffs his feathers:) he even started preening and he's already meandered down to his food bowl while I was there which btw is close to where I sit next to the cage.

When other people talk to him he starts the whole breathing heavy thing so I get em away and talk to him like I do and he calms down again! So I decided to take a leap of faith in the taming process. I got a little sprig of millet and slowly put my hand in his cage. Just there on the bottom and he did get nervous but I started talking and he calmed down yet again(:) so after a good 10-15 mins I went for it!! I slowly put my hand on the same perch and low and behold! He actually took a bite!! Now I know not to run off with this so I'm gonna wait til tomorrow to have another little session so he doesn't feel pressured and who knows maybe he'll realize what's going on and take a step back lol but for now he gets lots a praise lol and I left the millet in there for him to go to town with:)

Yesterday we were jammin together to the 20th century fox theme haha he was chirping away it was so cute:p he's such a good boy:) I already love him to bits<3

Nope nothing?? No one else cares? lmao jk but he's eating millet comfortably from my hand now!:) god forbid it go in the cage without millet though hehe fine with me:)

Excellent work! Sounds like you are on your way to a long, lasting relationship. Congratulations!

Nice start to a bonded relationship. :) Adorable photo on the play stand.

Congratulations! I am so happy the Joey is adapting so well to you already:)

Sounds like you are on the right track! The more comfortable he gets with eating from your hand, the more comfortable he will be with your hand. It can very well take a few days or weeks, but he'll get there. :)

I'm just seeing this thread now! (haven't been on in a few days)

BAD NEWS!!!)),: ugh so my little sister decided to mess with him and freaked him out after I just scolded her to leave him alone!! She set him back quite a bit/: he went from eating from my hand and almost stepping up on my finger right back to freaking out for everything like when I just brought him home. I only had about an inch of perch to get him to step up on last night which was awesome! He was doing great but now he won't get on the perch at all even when I'm holding the very end of it.. I'm getting irritated with my family and how they absolutely REFUSE to take me seriously.. Good thing I'm moving out in a few weeks. Right?

Sorry about that, setbacks are very frustrating !!
And so is "family" sometimes !! How old is your sister?

Till you move out, Home Depot has $10 keyed doorknob locks !!
(if necessary give one key to your mom so she doesn't feel like you are locking her out too)
