Hello! I am looking to get a female pionus. I do not have a preference of Max, blue headed, dusky, etc. I just like the manner of this parrot breed. I would prefer a hand fed baby but if there is sweet older one available for adoption, I'm okay with that. I do have parrot experience. I've owned a green cheek conure in the past. This is a tough breed to find and other than a breeder I can see online in Florida, I'm not seeing anything else. Thanks for your help.

I am located in northern arizona near the Utah border. I am willing to travel.

Welcome to the forums, Helga. :)

Have you checked on www.birdbreeders.com yet? You can search for breeders there by state. Best of luck!! :)
Yes, thank you I have but I did not see any available.

I did see a place called hawaiiparrot.com
I was able to find one review where the parrot owner purchased their bird from a Petco and traced the breeder back to them. They had good things to say about them but again, it was only one review. Anyone know anything about them?

I know nothing about Hawaii Parrot.

The folks that make the aviator harness have breeding pionus, a couple different kinds. They are in Ohio - still far away from you, but at least another option.

I hope you can find your perfect pi! I adore mine and hope they are always in the pet trade. They are great parrots.

I've never heard of Hawaii Parrot either.

Would you be willing to have a pi shipped to you from a reputable breeder? (Shipped to a major airport, that is)

Do you have bird clubs near you? If you do, perhaps some members would be able to assist you in your search. :)

^^^^ Typical reply of a SPAMMER! He is obviously banned, but managed to whip up a phone number that's US based, when his IP address showed otherwise. ;)

Please, be VERY careful. Spammers are certainly plentiful these days, and they shy away from nothing.

I've done a bunch of research and based on having a GCC in the past, I've decided on a Rose Crown Conure. I'll have he or she in 4-6 weeks. :)

How exciting, Helga! Best of luck! Can't wait to hear more about your baby when he or she arrives.
