I'm in need of ideas to how I should restrict him from preening his scab for the next week.
Okay, as you know, Gizmo has been having trouble with his rear.
Last night and today I kept seeing dried blood amongst his feathers and I've been trying to clean it up multiple times a day. This is from the scab wound, before I went to go sleep (which I plan on doing after this) it was caked in dried and fresh blood that I tried cleaning up a bit.
I've been giving him a lot of honey treats to help with his calories and I've been trying to find more bird safe foods that offer high calories.
Now, I'm feeling like I should add something protective to his butt, I'd prefer a collar but I've read of their restrictions. If I went that route, I'd most likely have him in a fish tank for a month! Other than that, I'd be clearing out a lot of his toys to make room for more perches to jump to.
So back to the first sentence, I'm trying to come up with a solution to try get him to stop picking at there. Every tutorial online are for parrots who pluck near the chest, and this is a bit more specific.
Could the same treatment for picking at legs be applied here?
