1 African Grey, 2 Cockatiels and 1 Pionus
After a very unsettling time, my husband arrived home yesterday from Florida (to NJ) and we've made my brother in laws African Grey, Leroy, as comfortable as we can. He's had a rough time of it with my brother in laws illness and passing away, but we've promised to give him a great home and take care of him. He seems like a sweet bird, he does talk and is eating, preening and generally up to shenanigans all over his cage. We've had parrots before - Cockatoo's, Senegals, and we currently have two cocktiels and a Blue Headed Pionus. Have a lot to learn about African Greys, so I'm really looking forward to reading these forums. I'm still learning how to get around this forum and I'll figure out how to post a photo soon.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for making Leroy part of your family. I know Leroy probably feels a bit unsettled right now, but with lots of love and in time you will find his intelligence blow your mind time and again. Please remember the pics, we are all addicted to pics!

yes, thank you! leroy just needs time to adjust - but they're so smart that with love and patience you'll have an amazing friend for the rest of your lives.

thanks for what you're doing - so sorry for your loss and the circumstances that led to your having to take him in.

Thank you. He's not as talkative right now, but I expect it will be a little time before he settles in to his new home and routine.

Thank you - he's very sweet. At least we thought he was a he....we have to get some closer looks at his tail and under his wings, but it doesn't much matter to us :)

The only way to know for sure is DNA, but in my inexperienced opinion he looks like a male [emoji16]

Thank you. He was much more talkative today - whistling, ringing, what sounds like a water drip, a few birds from outside - sparrow, cardinal and he's got quite a few phrases. Several different voices as well - one I recognize as my brother in law, of course. He rings the phone and answers it, LOL. I'm scouring the forums for good books to read, info on how long and how to teach him new phrases etc. I've already had to move a few things away from his explorations - and he's trying to figure out a way to get onto the couch! He shows a good deal of interest when we talk and he's quite entertaining.
