Lemon Gone Crazy

So Lemon has literally been with us a week today but last night it was like she just opened up. More appropriately it's like a toddler with a RedBull she has been playing with her toys, coming in and out of her cage and climbing all around it. Making little chittering noise and is now grinding her beak. The first whole week she would just sit on her perch after we asked her to step up and brought her out of her cage. Is this a sign of bonding or becoming comfortable in her environment?? I'm just curious to stages were going through or will be going through. I find her quite frequently holding on to the top of the cage hanging upside down [emoji23][emoji23] I tried to catch a shot of her tonight.

All birds are individuals, some take longer to adjust, others move in and make themselves at home immediately. Sounds like Lemon is happy with his new accommodations. Once a bird feels comfortable they will start to explore, investigate their surroundings and vocalize. Watch out, the next step is usually putting themselves in charge of everything, including family members. Very nice cage, Lucky Lemon!

Yea I noticed her being much more vocal today too, my husband who is retired army and home with the babies all day said she was not gonna let him sleep in today, when I left for class it was a full on squawk fest until he came downstairs. She has done a lot more playing today though so hopefully she is happy. We were told Lemon was a she but I've read without DNA sexing a bird this young we won't know for sure unless a ring never develops. Our rescue chihuahua is intent with laying on the love seat watching Lemon explore and play but my our other dog we have had since she was a puppy seems to think lemon might play with her eventually (like the bunny we fostered last year) she sits at the bottom of the cage stares and barks. Lemon just peers down cocking her head different directions almost like you idiot canine, it's quite hilarious. Well I won't just ramble. I will take this as a she is becoming acquainted which is what I was hoping for :)

It won't be long before Lemon barks too :35: We have a barking, sneezing, laughing ringneck - such brilliant imitators :)
Looks like you're off to a wonderful start, congratulations!

Grinding of the beaky..a typical contentment action..Yep..I'd say Lemon is happy in his/her new digs :) Now the fun begins! lol
