Couldn't they use a local anesthetic or something instead of partially knocking the bird out? Sorry I don't rrally know too much about how something like this would work
not sure owlet, the sedation is enough to tell me unless he needs
a medical procedure for his health he does not need a chip, or sedated to get one
after all I'm not worried about anyone stealing my birds or doubting my ownership

Also I had only 1 bird with a leg band. It was obviously way too big for a budgie (stupid petco).
Sedation, just to poke a bird with a needle? Pathetic! And unnecessary.
I wouldn't trust them to chip my birds.

Correct; because of the much more invasive and PAINFUL way they have to be for birds, the bird must be very well restrained, sedated, or a combination. In mammals they can just place it under the skin (sorry, I don't remember why).
