Lazy or weak bill?

My guy loves nuts (what parrot doesn't), but he doesn't seem to be able to open them very well.

If I give him a whole almond, it has to have some weak point for him to access. If its a solid shell he will give up on it. I was told by the parrot shop owner that he's just lazy.

I bought some palm nuts, and tho he seems very excited to get a hold of one, and if I crack one he goes crazy for the innards, forget about him getting on open.

I think I should mention that he is on the small size. The "book" lists average Illigers weight at 260 gram but his has always weighed ~ 230 grams no matter how much I stuff him with veggies, nuts, pellets, bird bread, etc. Same parrot store owner felt his keel for me and said he isn't skinny.

So, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Is he being lazy with the almonds and possibly the palm nuts (tho I have a bugger of a time with these, they are hard) or could it be possible that he just can't get in one unless its pre cracked?)

Also, if you have any suggestions on how to crack palm nuts a bit easier (or better yet, get him to do it), please let me know.

Thanks

I honestly wouldn't worry about his weight. There are always some that are smaller and some that are bigger. :)

How is he with destroying toys? Does he shred those? Anything in particular he likes to destroy the most?

Even my male DYH likes a little help with certain nuts, and he's far from lazy, LOL.

As for the palm nuts, you can drill a little starter hole in them. :)
