Blaze ~ Sun Conure
I never really expected my sun conure, Blaze, to be much of a talker. Both my boyfriend and I are quiet people, and the fact that Blaze doesn't scream for hours on end like some horror stories I've heard made me think that she wasn't going to be the most vocal. Not that I minded. I didn't get a bird for the conversational skills. The noises she makes the most of are little croaks, which means she's using her "inside voice" and normally wants out of the cage, or this adorable peep when she's cuddling.

A few days ago, I was helping her release some of the pin feathers she has. Poor baby is just covered in them! I was talking to her the whole time, and once I was finished, she was perched on my finger just staring at me. "Kiss kiss," I said, leaning forward while she pressed her beak against my lips. "Aww, thank you! Love you." What came next caught me off-guard. Not two seconds after I spoke, Blaze lets out two croaks almost as if she's repeating me. I had to say "love you" a few more times before she did it again, and I was absolutely ecstatic. It makes me wonder what else she'll pick up.

Awwwww! Too cute. When I first got Hotrod, he could already say "step up," but not even a month after I got him he started saying "I love you" as well! I wasn't even trying to teach him to say it! Other than those two phrases, he can do a couple imitations and his cute bird sounds. So he isn't much of a talker either.
It amazes me that he picked up on "I love you" so quickly. I wonder if they can understand what we mean when we say it to them? He does it a lot of times when I get home or right before bed so it makes me wonder!

Awww, what a great Mother's Day present! Hard to tell what all she will be saying now that she has started:)
