Hello Everyone!! It's been awhile since I have Posted about Fat Man(a nickname) He's going to be 14wks on Wednesday.. He's loving his new Cage!! Become a real daredevil! Also took his first flight over the weekend!! I think he's choose My Husband as his Person! He'll go to everyone but when he's done, off to find Dad!! He looks for me for food! I guess he's getting I'm the feeder in the house!!

Few Questions!!

1. He's doing ok with the Weaning but I'm still on 3 feeding a day! He plays with his food out of 10 pick up and drops he can maybe eat a half to one!! He's trying!! He eats zupreem pellets, a mixed of dry fruit/veggies/nuts and normal Cheero's! Anything you know they love that will make him maybe eat more on his own.. I know he's going in the right Direction but just want to make sure, I'm doing great by Korben....

2. Biting....... Just my husband.. and than throws up on him!! We say No!! and if he does it again we put him in the cage for a time out! than go get him back out within 5-10mins, sometimes kids or something distracts me! but always get him back out.. how many times till I show his enough is enough! He's starting to get it.. but if we do more than 5 times outs in a row is it bad to give him another 1hour before we try again!!

Also how would i make toys!! Is there a website??

OMG !! That is a freakin adorable baby :)
I need to hug him :)
Love the cage !

I just say no in a stern voice , sometimes I hold their beak while I say it , but i never forcefully hold the beak. If that doesnt work , sometimes I will put them on the floor.
They dont really like to be on the floor , they would rather be on their Moms arm. Once they realize they are on the floor and Mom has moved away from them , they come running towards me , lolol Then we start all over :)
I havent had them bite me , just test my fingers or arm and usually if I just say ah ah , thats enough to make them stop immediately and make nice , lolol.
Ive been lucky , I know that , but I think putting them back in the cage may not be the best answer....this may be what they want ...and once they know biting gets them this , they will do it when they feel they have had enough of your hubby or yourself.
Sometimes you have to take a look at what you or your hubby was doing the exact moment of the bite....maybe it scared Korben or maybe a movement was too fast for his liking ? Most of the time we can find the cause of the bite is something we did
un- intentionally . Just the other day I found Baby to be in a very fractious mood.
I didnt give him my usual hugs and kisses because I figured by his movements it wasnt the right and i would rather keep my lips , lolol.
Later on he was his old scrumptious self and I got my hugs and kisses :)
We just got to be aware of their body and eye movements because their moods can change in a blink of an eye !! Just thought I would share my feelings towards this ...
I hope other Macaw people chime in on this thread , I'm extremely interested on hearing their opinions as for I am learning myself how to deal with Macaws , lololol.
