Hi - I have owned macaws (severe & red front), amazons (double yellow head, red lorded) and eclectus. Four years ago my 15 year old severe died suddenly. The vet, which is one of the best in Houston, couldn't find out why she died. All kinds of test had been done. I pretty much was unconsolable.

After a few months, my husband and I bought a female baby red fronted macaw for me. She was so intelligent. As soon as we got home she immediately wanted my husband. He already has a red lored. She only wanted my husband only. She would eat me alive if she had a change.

I am 56 years old and would like to know if anyone knows where I can find an older red fronted macaw. I would love to adopt one.

You might try Wendy's Parrots. She's a breeder, but she also does rescue. Adventures In Birds has a couple for $1000 that are a year or two old, not that old, but the only ones I can think of.
