So, we just put up our tree. It is in the entryway where the birds can't see it. Not thinking much about it, I took out Pickles to "help" me work this morning. She was sitting on my shoulder and I rounded the corner to the entry way. She had a total freak out. She flew around and around the tree completely telling it off. Then she landed on my shoulder and hid behind my neck peeking out at it like "has it left yet?" It was the funniest thing hearing her rip apart the Christmas tree. Now she is eyeing it from my desk. I have a feeling it is only a matter of time before it becomes a new perch. And all those shiny ornaments, oh my. We have always set up a kind of Charlie Brown Christmas Tree in the family room (where the birds live). But this year we are hosting Christmas so we felt it only appropriate to have a full-size tree. I have a feeling that it is only the beginning of a fun December.

Ahhh yes...Christmas trees.. Years ago when we DID put a tree up,Smokey my TAG (r.i.p. Smokes) always got into the spirit ( or maybe NOT lol).

I came back into the living room from the kitchen one night,to see/hear clunk..clunk...thud..and witness ornaments falling to the floor and branches shaking. Smokes was half way up the tree throwing ornaments to the floor, cussing at them as she went.

Holidays with a parrot...  ;)

Okay, that just cracked me up. I can picture the whole thing in my mind. Now I am wondering what to do about presents. One of my dogs unwraps everything so we kind of stack them up on a divider, but I can just imagine it now. "Riiiiip, crunch, riiip, tear" oh thanks mom, just what I wanted. Can I open more? This will have to be a VERY supervised Christmas.

I have a little table top tree I put up. Romeo climbed off his perch, onto the table, and threw the tree onto the floor and then called it a dirty word. He then went back to his perch like nothing had happened.

And thus died my hopes of a tree in the new house. (It's OK, I normally don't bother with one anyway... )

Well, he didn't beat around the bush regarding his opinion of the tree! I don't know why, but I love how opinionated they are. They just don't care what anyone else wants! My birds always act super sweet when they want something, and then it's like, whatever with the eye roll. My daughter can't figure out why I love my fids so much. I think part of it is you don't have to figure out what they "really" want, there is no beating around the bush, you almost always know where you stand (and it is usually at the bottom!)

Lmao...I can just see the green cheek flying around and around the Christmas tree telling it off!

I live alone, no kids, but I used to put up a live tree every year anyway because my mom always had one and I love the smell it gives the house. When I first moved into my house almost 7 years ago I had an Australian Cattle Dog and a pug (R.I.P. Cleo and Jaeger, mommy loves you), both over 10 years old and well behaved, and they let the tree alone. I also had a green cheek conure named Iggy (R.I.P. Iggy, I miss you) who was scared to death of the tree and left it alone, and I had 4 pet budgies at the time, bred and hand-raised by me from 2 weeks old, they hung out on me all day and were/still are just awesome little birds.... however, they ended Christmas trees in this house!

All I can say is SAP...use your imagination...

SAP + 4 FLIGHTED ENGLISH BUDGIES = 4 ENGLISH BUDGIES WHO ARE NO LONGER FLIGHTED!
