Hanging this morning/afternoon. I can’t decide if I want to clean up his beak myself or let it finish by itself. This is how his beak grows. Eventually the old part pops off when he bites something but it always looks like a mess.

Great photos of your sweet Kelly.

This can be a problem and from time to time, with some of past Amazons, we have had like problems. What we have done is to have our Certified Avian Vet trim the Beak. As you know, its a very fine line between just enough and to much. It is important to know that our older Amazons had also been fighting fatty liver.

Yeah Kelly’s previous home had him on a seed diet for about 30 years, so I’ve been expecting health issues. So far he always pops up as fine in his blood tests. I always do beak trims myself anymore but it’s always popped off before I got around to doing it on him.

Most of our's that have been on a heavy sunflower seed and peanut diet pushed fatty liver and heart problems. But, the ones on a wide spectrum seed, grains, and nuts didn't. Always was amazed at that difference.

Such a handsome guy,that Kelly is :D

And the rudder thing..typical over-excited 'zon! :p
