Sprite the cinnamon green cheek conure.
I've got 2 questions.

1. My mom is renting a power washer. Im wondering if I can power wash Sprite's cage..Im worried that it might take the paint off. His cage is powder coated.

2. My friend wants me to keep her new budgie for 6 days. I won't let him
and Sprite interact but I'm wondering HOW I should go about not letting them near each other (Do I have to change my clothes every time I go from the budgie to Sprite?, etc.)

Thanks :grey:

Budgie: i don't think you have to change your clothes when going between the to, just wash your hands. If you're really worried, wear an over sized shirt or sweatshirt over your clothes when handling the budgie, and take it off when going to sprite :).
Power washer: That's a tough one. My dad's a construction worker and he said power washers can strip paint, but many people power wash their cages. To be on the safe side, i would use it from a distance and test it out on the leg of the cage, or the bottom. if the paint comes of then don't use it on the rest, if it doesn't your good to go :). good luck :)

Powder coat is one of the toughest paint jobs there is you should have no problem washing the cage. just keep the bird in the other end of the house and don't handle one bird then the other without washing in between and you should be fine.

Hand washing between birds is about all you need todo. On the power washing a cage most powerwashers now have settings and as ling as the cage has not chips it should be fine but test it on the bottom unside part first to be shore. I have a steamer that I use. Once every couple of weeks I do a good steam clean on all the cages. No bird in them at the time lol.

Make sure you dry the cage really well after power washing it too, just to be sure it doesn't rust.

I second what you say RM Had a friend who power washed the bird cage and the wheels got very rusty. It is a difficult place to dry. If you have any scratches in the paint - same thing. Dry dry.

I'm no longer keeping my friends bird!
The cage does have a couple tiny spots of chipping paint, think this'll be okay?

If power washing removes powdercoat, it wasn't applied with correct preparation. To remove a good powdercoating job, it has to be heated to 450F and then remove with sandblast.
