This morning has been pretty tough for me.

My youngest (11) husky, Apollo, is at the vets today~ he's VERY ill with what I don't know yet.

Him and his sister, Mishka, sleep in dog crates in the garage and this morning I got quite the surprise when Apollo and the inside of his crate was covered in his feces and urine. I quickly took them out to the yard and he acted scared, kept puking, severe diarrhea.

I suspected poisoning and called the vet and then rushed him there. The vet has no idea at this point what could be wrong so the battery of tests has begun.

Please keep my sweet Apollo in your thoughts today.....

Shirre, definitely sending healing thoughts and prayers to Apollo! Is Mishka okay?
I so hope it is something they can find and fix quickly.
I'm so sorry.

Mishka is ok-- she's just been crying for Apollo all morning.

I hope it's nothing too serious either.....

I hope he pulls through.

Is there any anti-freeze in the garage that he could have gotten a hold of?

Thank you.

No-- they're never loose in the garage unsupervised.

HOWEVER! There is major construction happening RIGHT NEXT to our house (they're putting in a bypass highway) and it would (unfortunately) be easy for someone to toss something over the fence. So that's why I first thought that he could've been poisoned.

Oh no, Shirre! I'm sorry Apollo is so ill. I hope it isn't anything too serious, please let us know when you hear something. Hugs and well wishes for you and Appolo.

UPDATE: just talked to the vet tech~ they gave him some anti-vomit meds (which are working) along with fluids and antibiotics. Waiting on the blood work results which should be back this evening. He's stable at the moment.

I am so very sorry, Shirre!!! Please keep us posted on Apollo, ok? Thinking of you, and him...and Mishka, too!!!

I'm so sorry about Apollo - terribly frightening. I'm glad he is stable for now and the anti-vomit meds are working.

Sending you and Apollo good thoughts. Please keep us posted.

Oh no! Poor Apollo!! I'm sorry to hear Shirre:(. My thoughts are with you, rooting for him to recover asap! I'm glad the vet has him stable and he's feeling a bit more comfortable right now.

UPDATE: Apollo is doing well at the moment~ he's still hooked up to fluids and antibiotics, and he's gone potty outside a couple times. He's doing well in his kennel and has calmed down quite a bit compared to this morning.

We're still waiting on blood work to come back, which won't be for another hour or two.

I'm pretty sure they're going to want to keep him overnight just in case.

Just saw this. I have a husky-mutt, too, so I really have a special affinity for them. I will hope Apollo recovers quickly from his illness. How scary! Glad he's doing better. Prayers said.

UPDATE:

Blood finally came back--- everything looks good (kidneys, liver, thyroids, no Addison's etc). His system has taken the fluids and antibiotics very well; the dr did not rule out poisoning because he could've eaten something someone threw over the fence that was just enough to cause a gastrointestinal upset.

He's coming home tonight and tomorrow morning will start a bland diet.... He also has a large lump on his left side the dr is going to test tonight to make sure it's not something serious.

So for now, he's in the clear and I'll be going to pick him up in half an hour......

That's great news, possible poisoning is horrific but it could have been far worse. Chicken and brown rice for a few days, Apollo will enjoy the extra attention. Hug him for me, Shirre, I've been really worried. Mishka will be so happy to have him home.

I'll give him hugs and belly scratches from everyone AFTER he gets a bath [emoji51] he still hasn't had one and the dr said he's in desperate need of one [emoji87]

But I'm pleased with the good news and happy he'll be home with Mishka soon-- she's been upset all day [emoji53]

Apollo dog (right) is back home!!!!

He's had a bath and we start the onslaught of tummy meds tomorrow am, and I need to cook up enough chicken and rice for his meals this week.

Thank you everyone for your support through this rough day [emoji8]

Glad to see he is doing better and home already!

Awww, poor little loves, they both look like they could use a hug and a belly scratch! Hugs for you too, Mom, I know it's been a rough day.

I'm glad Apollo is going to be all right.

What a freight full day, shirre! I'm so relieved for you and your family!
