My sun conure Mouse sounded congested this morning. My mother drove home on her lunch to check on her and she sounded the same. she's eating and drinking and playing normal. She just sounds a little congested.

She's not puffy and her wings are not droopy and she's not shivering. However I'm still concerned or allergies.

Unfortunately none of my normal vet are available for her so we are off to an ER that treats exotic.

Please keep my girl and my wallet in your prayers. She's only two so I'm hoping we can kick this in the butt.

*** I'm really concerned it's an upper respiratory infection or allergies

Im so sorry your baby is sick, wishing her the best possible outcome and quick recovery. Noticing the symptoms and getting her to an ER immediately should make all the difference. Please keep us updated. You and Mouse will be in my thoughts.

Update: they aren't really hearing anything on the lungs but she's making so much nose noise they can't really tell. They are doing an x-ray to roll out anything being stuck in her air way and to check to make sure she doesn't have any issues in her lungs.

They had her in a heated oxygen tank to rest and we should know soon what the xrays say. Hopefully we'll get some antibiotics and be heading home shortly.

Thanks for all the prayers!

Update: we are heading home with Mouse in tow. The xraus showed no shadowing but they are sending her home and treating this like a respiratory infection. They are putting her on antibiotics and we are going to use an oxygen concentrator to offer extra oxygen, kick up the humidity, and over her her heating lamp just as support. She's no better but no worse. Hopefully she will respond, but I have an appointment with her normal vet on Wednesday to follow up with him.

She isn't gasping, shivering, or acting lethargic but she definitely sounds stuffy still. So hopefully getting hey back home with the support above will get her over this :)

I will be thinking of Mouse! It seems you caught whatever is brewing early before acute symptoms surfaced. Getting her to an exotic ER can make a huge difference, and it appears she is well supported. Hopefully Mouse will recover quickly!

Please keep us updated as you are able.

UPDATE- Mouse has been on her antibiotic, SMZ, for almost 2 days. So far I've noticed a difference in her congestion. She will still see her normal vet on Wednesday for a follow up and so he can see her.

First thing she did when she got home the night was get a drink and dive into her food again. Little piggy :D

I bought a better air purifier and a better humidifier for both bird rooms...I had originally just bought basic models of both. I shelled out about $300 on them, but here's hoping these new ones will work better.

So far so good with my girl. Let's just hope she stays that way :)

Great progress report! Having the primary vet review the records and therapies will be very helpful as a "course correction" if necessary. Appears Moose is responding and on the path to recovery! Adhere to doctor recommendations and ask questions if you perceive any issues or setbacks.

Hard to know if the air cleaners will stave off future infections, but they are certainly a help! If the cleaner has an "ionizing" feature best to leave it "off."

Yes leave the ionizer off, if the filter has one. Good luck with Mouse. No one can fault the care and love you give, that is for certain.
