How safe are Birdie Kabobs? My GCC likes them. Is there an issue with wood ingestion?

Provided it is an untreated wood bird toy, it should be completely safe. Parrots chew wood in nature, it is completely natural and healthy for them to do so and they do not ingest wood even if they chew it up into splinters. In fact, if parrots do not get a sufficient supply of wood to chew, their beaks can end up getting overgrown, not to mention the possibility of mental health issues stemming from not being able to engage in such a natural behavior for them. Have no fears continuing giving your conure wood toys to chew, it is something he was born to do!

Are you meaning the kabobs made from yucca? If so, my conures and cockatiel love them and shred those up with delight. Iā€™ve not ever seen them ā€˜eatā€™ the wood and donā€™t worry about them doing so - theyā€™ve shredded literally hundreds of chunks of yucca :).

Its the ones I buy at Petco and Petsmart. They last a couple of months. The amount of shredding varies. But when she gets going they don't last long. Her favorite toy is the drop down latch on the cage door. She'll spin it around like a propeller.

Lol at the cage door latch, my Bluebell does this while he tries to escape. As far as the kabobs go (which Iā€™m guessing is Wescoā€™s brand), theyā€™re perfectly safe. All of my idjits love them to pieces (literally)!
