Juvenile Bald Eagle??

Beautiful, evocative shots. Don't apologize for the quality, it just enhances the mystery and poignancy of the moment.

definitely a juvenile bald eagle. beak and head profile alone give it away. the head and beak are way too heavy to be a golden eagle!

From the picture and the location I think its a junvinle Bald Eagle. Bald Eagles are "fishing

eagles" and usually found around water. Golden Eagle are "buteos" and eat mammals and

birds. They are usually far from water. Ether way it's a cool photo. Thank for sharing it.

hmmm... golden eagles are called Aquila chrysaetos, therefore NOT a buteo. buteo are medium-large soaring hawks. golden eagles are definitely an eagle and in the eagle family rather than the buteo family.

I believe he was using the term only to describe their diet in the same way he was describing bald eagles as "fishing eagles" Some people use the term "buteo" more loosely than others.

I agree with those that say it's a bald eagle.
