Well as many of you may have read my gorgeous baby eckie Nelson passed away earlier in the week. A necropsy revealed an aggressive bacterial infection and the vets were lead to believe he was born with some kind of issue effecting his immune system which was why the infection took over so quickly and why he had caught something and Barry was healthy (after tests to be sure). Well anyway i was so relieved that Barry was ok but it meant everything needed disinfecting and i had to throw out 90% of the toys and all of the perches and rope. Replacing everything on top of the vet bills was going to be fun but at least Barry was ok!
Things can only better from here right? Wrong. Barry managed to escape while i was at work yesterday morning and the windows were open just enough for him to get out of the house so i came home at lunch time to no bird =( The wind has been awful which has made it very hard to try and find him. If he was nearby he would call back if he heard me but the wind makes it about impossible to hear much anyway =/ I have put a lost add all over the internet, notified neighbors and the local vet clinics and I will make posters for the local shops in the next few days. Issue is i live in a rural area (moments like these you realize how many trees there are in the middle of nowhere) although there is a village nearby. I have seen a ton of hawks around the past few days but there are so many thick hedges and shelter belts im praying he is keeping safe.Hoping the wind will die down over the weekend so i can do some proper searching! Have a cage outside for him and one inside too (with all of the windows wide open so he can get in) but there are so many pigeons and mynahs that live by my house im worried they will keep him from coming home even if he wanted too.
What a mess. What an awful week =( Sucks to be me huh.
