Fizzgig: White bellied caique; rip my perfect gcc Kiwi 1997-2018
Hi I don't believe I've ever been on this forum, but I've been on others. We lost my almost 21-year-old green cheek conure two days after Easter this year (I had parakeets before her, I've had birds since I was 10). My 4-month-old white-bellied caique came home this past Saturday. So I'm definitely not new to birds, although this is the biggest one I've ever had. He's a handful, he's still beaking everything and constantly wants to climb me (I don't want him on my shoulders, at least not yet).

I guess I don't have a whole lot to say. Just, hi I guess. :)

Hi sparky :)

Upgrading a beaksize is always fun (and a bit scary -just my humble opinion).
I hope to read many stories about you and the little bundle of ADHD-packed-fun.

Welcome! We love pictures so please feel free to post some!

Welcome! I hope you’ll share some pictures of your new addition. What’s his name?

My sympathies with the loss of your GCC, I lost one this year as well, very hard. But welcome to the forum and welcome to your new Caique Sparky, me he have a long and wonderful life with you. I did consider one as well but none were around so I went quaker, not as flashy but I'm loving em like crazy. Since I can't have all the parrots in the world I hope to live vicariously through you and your caique so yes I second plunty of pictures and stories!

Here he is in my lap with a toy to distract him (one can hope). His name will probably be Fizzgig but right now he is just Beaker McBeakerson, lol.

Cutie pie! May be beaky but looks happy to be with you! How did you choose him?

I didn't really, after my gcc passed I knew I wanted something a little bigger for my next bird. What I really wanted was a brown headed parrot but none were to be found in my area so I put myself down on a waiting list for a caique at the bird shop I like here. I thought it would be a longer wait. Turned out I was the only one on the list and when they got in a single white belly in October it was mine if I wanted it. I make embroidered patches for a living so my business explodes in October, its the only time of the year I really have extra money (which I planned to put aside of course). So since the timing was good I went for it, didn't even have to use my credit card for part of it like I thought I would. I only handled him a few times before he came home, he was even beakier while he was weaning. :34:Today though I leaned that if presented with a towel to chew he becomes a little less interested in my fingers so that's a step in the right direction.

(And then my friend gave in and bought herself a gcc today! So I'll get to play with that now too. :D )

My deepest condolences for your loss of Kiwi.

Your caique is a beauty, thanks for joining and sharing!!
