Well I got a strang phone call from the U.T. medical center where Sophie spent the week and had her operation. They said they where calling to one, check up on her and second they have been going back over her xrays and tests and they need to run a DNA test on her.

WEll they was alittle strange for me cause Sophie was Sexed when i got her and i was told her was a girl. So i asked what was going on and they said they think the person that did her test in the past is wrong and that Sophie is a boy. They also said they would like to know do to the fact they will be working with her/him in very closely to make sure Sophie stays healthy and happy. So i said Yes run what ever test you need to. So now i wait for a few days to see if they are right. It would make sence why she loves me SOOOO much! I just always thought i was her person. I guess Sophie, isnt such a strang name for a boy LOLOL :D

strange phone call indeed!....if it does turn out to be a boy, maybe you can call him Mr. Sophie :)

Im just wondering what they seen in the xrays to make them think she is a boy ??

Wow! Just when you think it's safe to name your baby. But I think Sophie is a perfectly acceptable name for a boy as well:)

HA! Guess DNA sexing ain't so 100% now?!

Sophie is a wonderful name for a boy.

What a sneaky little dude-meister you are, Sophie! Hiding your manliness under all that sweet lovieness! ;)

Have you tried visually sex Sophie on your own???? With Umbrella Cockatoos the males have dark brown to black eyes while the females can have light brown to burgundy eyes. When you check their eyes make sure you check it with a white fluorescent lighting as it's more accurate. The family that got Java questioned me big time on Java's sex, I told them Java is a 100% male as he tries to hump me when we first met. Also his eyes was dark brown. But he was so sure Java was a girl so he DNA her to try to prove me wrong, the test results came back, it's a boy....I told them that Java wasn't the first U2 I've been around and I can tell the difference between the light brown and dark brown. If you know what your looking at you can tell the difference pretty easily.

hay mike, this is what the what the vet was telling me about me too...I had no idea about the eye color and so forth but they sure did LOL and Dr. Baine is 90% sure sophie is a boy, from what she is telling me. Which im not unhappy with ether. I love sophie no matter what sex she is, and the whole bound thing did scare me when the time comes. I was scared i would know she had a egg stuck up in there :) I do think you are right about waiting alittle longer witht he two on becomeing friends aswell.

I'm thinking the same as Mike....it just makes you wonder.....

I agree with you both ! I dont think the test was ever done in the first place. When i asked for her to be sexed the first time. The guy took her from me and about 10 mins later gave her back to me and said oh you have a baby girl !!! NOW that i know better a DNA blood test takes like a week to come back LOL so i know they are crazy. I think he took her in the back room looked at her and said hmm u look like a girl today ;/

They left me in the little vet room, and took her in the back. I thought it was a little strange at the time but being new to the USA i thought they did things diferent here then in Canada. But now i know alot more about my rights and rules and stuff,

I would go back to the first vets office and demand to see the actual test result records... and get your money back when it shows they did not actually do the test! I'll bet money they viewed by eye color. But that's not 100% either, our vet was surprised that Ivory's eyes were so dark, because bare eyeds also have the reddish brown for females and she has very dark eyes.

Sophie is Sophie... he won't care what you call him long as you're calling him :) At the shelter there is a Chyna that is a boy and a Buffy that is a boy, neither seem to mind!

I am so happy to read your updates too, wonderful he/she is happy to be home and doing well!!

I might not even bother getting Mango sexed agree hearing this and this isn't the first time I heard the results are wrong. I'm going to assume he is a boy until he lays an egg.
