Just curious, how do your Greys bathe?

Merlin only wants to bathe in a bowl. Which is ok I guess other than there is quite a mess to clean up afterwards. I've been trying to introduce her to the bathroom sink, which is beige in color, and I think maybe less frightening than the black one in the kitchen. So far though she is pretty scared of it. She is also scared of the shower and spray bottles.

I just take her into the bathroom every day to try to get her used to being in there and to the sink. The sink would be less of a mess to clean up, and of course is made for water being all over it.

And of course she decided right in the middle of my eating lunch today that she wanted a bath. So I had to hurry up and put the cat away and get her her big bowl to bathe in, lol!

Pepper has tried to use her water bowl a few times. It doesn't really work well, she doesn't exactly fit! LOL. Mostly she just makes a big mess, dips one leg in, then the other leg. I take her into the shower a couple times a week. We made a stand that sits on the floor of the tub, I sit her on that and turn on the shower. I aim it so it's only on half the perch so she can decide when she wants under the water and when she's finished. She will only stay there if I sit on the edge of the tub beside her. (I can't have her take showers with me. I wear a brace and need to take baths myself so I can sit with if off)

Guess I can't edit the title to fix my typo? If one of the mods wants to do that for me, I'd appreciate it:)

What's the best way to introduce them to a bath? So far Cody can't STAND them! LOL I've tried filling a sink with about an inch of water and I've tried a light mist with the spray nozzle but so far nothing. He seems "itchy" so I'm sure a bath would make him feel much better if he would just take one!

I've enticed hesitant birds into a bath by putting something that they like in it. For instance, lettuce, a strawberry, a favorite toy, or plastic ball to play with. Some go for it, some do not.

omg Klaus HATES, HAAATES water! i have no idea why, lol. he freaks out if a single drop
gets on him from if i wash my hands near him and some water splashes on him. i still
need to bathe him anyway so i just mist him. i spray a few times then stop and let him
calm down then i do it again until he's all soaked, i guess. he seems to enjoy drying out
and preening himself afterwards though. weird. ;p

Well, the conures always just bathed on their own, either in their water dishes, or anywhere else they saw water (sink, shower). Pete's former owner told me he liked showers, so I just started taking him in with me. I know when Merlin wants a bath because she will try to get into her water bowl, which she doesn't quite fit in. Then I give her a large plastic bowl I bought for her and put her on her play top to do her thing. I guess you just have to give them options and see which one they choose. Merlin will freak over even the lightest of spritzes though. And she takes the least amount of baths/showers of them all. Sometimes Rowdy just keeps taking them, every time I change the water.

Rosie will take a bath almost any way. Sometimes jumps in a bowl but not often. She gets into the shower with me on a perch and will stand still and fluff for a spritz.

Thanks for letting me know how to fix it, spiritbird. I'm not a good speller, but I try:) And it was driving me nuts to see curious spelled wrong and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. And thanks, RioMom for fixing it for me!

Papito is not a bather either unless its in his water bowl, which is funny to watch at least. He will tolerate standing on the perch while i shower as long as i dont put water on his directly. We have tried everything. :-(

We usually just have to start the vacuum and Arie starts to bath in her water dish. She looks so goofy. All she does is stomp her feet up and down. She makes a huge mess and hardly even gets wet! She wont bathe any other way. I do take her in the shower and she sits on the shower rod and takes a steam bath.
