I just adopted two budgies from a neighbor who needed to re-home them (the short story is, a relative asked her to watch them for a couple of days, then refused to pick them up for months!). I didn't plan this, and I haven't had a budgie in over forty years. (But if you've seen me around the forum you know I have more experience with cockatiels and lovebirds.) They came with a cage that seems big enough and some toys, and they are on an all-seed diet right now - and apparently they are picky about what kind of seed they like and throw foods they don't like out of the cage. The first website I found for feeding advice was *way* too involved for me - I won't be feeding them an all-organic diet of sprouts I grew myself, but I do plan to improve their diet. Does anyone here use pellets with budgies? My cockatiel gets a pellet and seed mix supplemented with fresh (non-organic, store-bought) produce.
Not a great pic to share, but I didn't want to scare them on their first night in a new home. They came with the names Cindy and Poochi.
