Ash has been doing well! She loves to go out in her harness and just hang out on my shoulder. She's a little scared of flying, but she's progressing well, she's getting a little bolder every day.

Today was the first day all week that the sun has been out and it hasn't been freezing cold, so she was eager to go on an adventure!

She's starting to molt out her baby feathers and get some nice glossy black ones in.

You can also see her playing around on the fence :p

So very cool! Love seeing her!

What a special treat! I LOVE seeing Ash! Thank you so much for sharing her with us. Just GORGEOUS!!! :D

Beautiful! I'd been wondering how you have been getting on!

Thanks everybody ^^

We have wild yellow-tailed black cockatoos here, and they're always checking her out :p
Probably wondering why she has such a weird tail!

They are such beautiful birds :).
We have them where I live (Perth), along with the white-tailed (Carnabys) cockatoos. They are such a glorious sight to see, but sadly they are threatened species now, due to habitat loss.
I have to ask - how did you train Ash to wear a harness?
I would love to use one with my galah, but cant imagine her ever allowing me to put one on her!

Thanks for the update. Ash is beautiful.

Great update! Good to hear that things with Ash are going so well! Love that first pic! Such an inquisitive look on her face! And it was great to see the video! Thanks for sharing!

And you've been missed, btw.

I don't blame her for being a little scared to fly. That's a lot of bird body to get airborne! ;-) She's so pretty. Looks like she's covered with stars in a night sky. I'm glad you're sharing her with everyone. It's fun to watch her grow up. Thank you.

Great to hear she's doing well! What a cute peeping noise she makes. Is that a young bird noise?

I actually didn't harness train her, her breeder did!

It's not too hard if your bird doesn't mind being touched - it's basically a matter of desensitising them to being touched around the body, and to being 'man-handled' (lifting their wings, etc). The "Aviator" brand harness comes with an instructional DVD, I'm not too sure about other brands since I've only ever used Aviators.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments, she certainly is spoilt ;)

The 'peeping' noise she makes is her little contact call, to let me know where she is, as if I didn't already know :p
Adult birds make it too, but it's more common in younger birds, especially hand-raised ones.
