Thanks for the second batch of photos!

We took Skittles out yesterday and she was getting all this attention so she started to showoff. She then stuck her tongue out to the side off her mouth like Fargo does. I've never seen her do that before, it was so funny. I instantly thought of Fargo! :D

Unfortunately, it didn't last long enough to take a photo.

Happy early Birthday to Fargo!

YESSSSSSSS!!! Skittles :D You are following in Fargo's footsteps.. Good girl ;) hahahaha

This tongue trend is going to catch on i tell you ;)

Thank you! 1 more sleep ! Sucks the toys won't be here in time though! :31:

Just a note - if ever that bird mysteriously dissappears, please don't come looking at my house. 'Cause I won't have him at all! Ok? :54:

Hahaha! I say that all the time about puppies and kids that are cute. I think she should look anywhere, but either of our houses. In fact. How about you distract her and "help" her look for him while I get all the toys. Then we can move to New Zealand together, the three of us, and live happily ever after! Lol

:20: Am i going to have to hire a security guard for Fargo because of you two? :20:

I am going to wake up one morning and find my whole room empty and Fargo gone... :09:

hahahahaha

Hahahaha birds are funny little things!! :p

Is that how they get the girls in the wild? ;)

Males fly around, sticking their tongue out- hey ladiessss, ever seen a tongue like this? :p

Then the female birds all sit around- 'oh, did you see Tommy's tongue? He showed it to me, it was lovely!' :09:

It's not just those 2.... You need a whole security contingent. If he ever does get kidnapped, it'll be like Agatha Christie, suspects everywhere :D

Fargo's been taking his "lady skills" from Gene Simmons. :D

High comedy! Hahaha! You're all so ridiculous! I love it!

Amen! Add me to that suspect list!

Smh. SO ridiculous. I'm picturing this, now! Lol!

Tab, is Fargo always so cuddly and affectionate? Or does he have his grumpy/nippy days, too?

Ummmmmmm, once a month he will have a bad moody day :20: This usually means he will try and destroy everything, scream (which he never normally does) and then fly around like a maniac ;) Never has been aggressive yet, but will deal with that when he is older!

The other 30 days of the month he is perfect and cuddly, sits on my chest getting kisses, just one day he gets wound up, acts up and gets moody! They are the days i just let him do his own thing, usually distract him with toys makes him happier :p

He hasn't had his moody day this month though, but still a few days left ;) hahahaha

Great photos as usual! :D

Really? Wow. That's crazy! I often wish I could catch a glimpse of what exactly a bird is thinking. How old is Fargo, anyway?

Happy Birthday, Fargo!!! Hope today isn't your "moody" day!

I know Fargo has many fans but I'm another new one. I love his posts and photos and his amazing room!

You've gotta love those macaw tongues!

Great photos.

And honestly, my big macs are the same way. They have a reputation for being aggressive, but most of the time it's because people don't understand how these birds play, and they don't get handled or interacted with enough.

THIS IS HOW THEY SHOULD BE... AND THEY REALLY ARE AMAZING WHEN YOU WORK WITH THEM!!!

I see it as his day to release energy?

The rest of the month he is very quiet, laid back, relaxed..

So then one day he just has to get rid of it all to start another month of being perfect? :20: :09:

Today is his 2nd birthday!!! :D

I think that is one of the reasons people think macaws are aggressive? Because they use their beaks to play, so they think, oh, he is about to bite me?

Fargo will put his whole beak over my wrist and just gently squeeze, he always has my fingers in his beak, and we always finger/beak wrestle with each other...

Sometimes he gets a bit excited and applies more pressure, but i just say no and he calms down.. But he has never drawn blood/bruised or actually hurt...

Unless i just have a very high pain tolerance  hahahaha

I always encourage him to play with his beak with my hands and fingers, it is just his way of playing!!

Did you see the video on Fargo's facebook of how to do a somersault?
No, I don't "do" facebook. I saw him on the bird publisher's site. My galah doesn't want to put her head down, so I can't really lure her over.... She is very "upright". She also bites me all the time, so it's hard to manouevre her head anywhere by lure.

Well, it's a duel edged sword really...

The bird reacts like that usually because he's trying to initiate playtime...

THEN HE REALIZES THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF ME, AND IF I BITE THEM A TIME OR TWO, I CAN MAKE THEM DO ANYTHING I WANT... (And then all I have to do is keep up their training, and they are mine!)

Which explain why some folks get bit, and hate macaws. And others have "mush macs." If you don't train the bird, the bird will train you.

I beak wrestle with mine nose to beak, all the time, and so does my daughter. Every once in awhile she may pull hair, or pinch just enough to gain a tactical advantage in a game, but true aggression just doesn't happen... even when their being opinionated and pissy.
