Are juniper berries toxic to parrots?
The Higgins Snack Attack dried fruit bird treats I bought (Fruit & Stix) has juniper berries in the mix, but I was under the impression that it was toxic...

I think it is not poisonous. It says on the above website but on Wikipedia it says that wild bird like to eat it and that it has a distinct and tasteful flavour to it for birds. You may want to do more research just to make sure for GCC's but a Yahoo answer's thread said that it should be fine for GCC's. Your bird may end up having an allergy to it or something though and if that happens a vet should be accessible for emergencies/not needing an appointment.

Juniper was listed on the toxic food thread here and on some other sites, which is why I asked. I just think its odd that so many sources would say its toxic, and yet companies would include it in treats :s

Maybe they specially treated it? It could just be the juices and they dried them out or something.
