I feel really disappointed in myself. I got home and Josey was acting funny. I thought maybe it was from the noise of someone weedeating the day before. When she is scared she goes to the top of her cage bites the bars flaps her wings and screams the loudest I think I have ever heard from anything
We have a routine. I try to do exactly the same thing every day. So as soon as I walk in I let her out. I then go let out Athena and Zeus. Change out everyone's water and do a little fresh fruit snack for them and then go change out of dress clothes.
Well today she is in a horrible mood. Every time I walk past the cage she screams at me. Any treats I give her she throws to the ground. Then she starts ... For over two hours screams. I get frustrated. I yell at her to stop then I walk outside to try and ignore her. Her comes the part that makes me even more of a butt. I been outside for about an hour and my neighbor pulls up. She comes over to my porch and ask me if Josey had settled down after the bad lighting storm. She was scared! I yelled at her. I spent an hour reading to her but what do I do when I am not home? The guy I got her from kept her in the unused living room .. Kept it dark and colder to keep her quite .. Do you think this made her nervous? Sorry for the book

She's still getting used to you and her New surrounding so it will take her time to get adjusted. Just try to talk to her calmly when she's screaming. If she start to drive you nuts, just walk away. Try talking to her, sing to her, laugh, be silly, etc to distract her from screaming. I know at times it can be rough after a long day of work and you can be short fused. But you can make the situation worse by yelling at her this early in the stage.

I feel so horrible. She usually on screams only when something frightens her. I feel like a huge butt!! Especially since she let me take her outside yesterday!! I was so excited. I wish I was better at adding pictures to the post so you could see her. I added some of her to my albums

If you can post your pictures like on photobucket and copy the direct link. Click on the pic icon on your message screen and a box will pop up, paste the link within and click ok. It should pop right up!

Don't feel so horrible about it, B&G can be like that but you just need time to adjust and understand her. I'm just beginning to understand why Lola does some of the things she does and I just figured it out tonight. She's only been here for almost a month. But Willie have been here for 10 years.

I agree with Mikey, Josey needs a lot more time to adjust to her new home. Also, screaming back at her, never helps. She will only scream louder.

If this makes you feel any better: When I first brought Ripley home, he had screaming episodes like this. I NEVER rewarded him with attention of any sorts (including hollering back at him) when he had those moments. The minute he would quiet down to catch his breath I'd start talking to him softly, sometimes even whispered. He still has his moments from time to time, but it's to be expected. Niko even has those moments. :)
