Jenday Conure Still Doesn't like me

It has Been 5 Months and My jenday conure still hates me, every day I come up to his cage y'know feed and water him (also let him out sometimes) he always screeches at me and either tries to bite me or just walk away. Even when I let him come out of the cage he still refuses to come out unless I leave, The only thing he lets me do is give him a seed through his cage. Any advice would be appreciated, and NO I will be keeping him even if he hates me, he is my responsibility....I will still love him even if he hates me.

Hi and welcome! Not sure if you’ve seen this thread, but it’s a good one with ideas for building a bond http://www.parrotforums.com/general-parrot-information/49144-tips-bonding-building-trust.html. I’ve always relied on finding their absolute favorite food, and spending lots of time just sitting nearby, chatting with them. All of mine were rescues, came to me as adults with bad biting habits. How old is your Jenday? Is he getting 12 hours of sleep per night? What kind of diet is he on? What are his absolute favorite foods?

Glad to hear you are dedicated to this bird. So many times they get shuffled around because of their behavior or they "fail" to be the pet the owner wants. Maybe your bird is going through some hormonal phase or a molt so he is a bit grumpy? I think food sharing always helps the bond. Eat something in front of him and then share with him (the foods he is allowed of course). See how it goes.
