I bought Jasper a new foraging toy. It's a box with 4 drawers that he has to pull open to get the treat. Day 1: I showed him that I put in broccoli, carrots, apple, and a brazil nut. He worked it for 20 minutes and got the bottom 2 open. Of course he went after the apple in the bottom first. It was getting close to bedtime so I took it out. The next day I put the apple in the top. He was having a bit of trouble with the top. I put it in and took a quick shower. By the time I got out of the shower, he had all 4 drawers cleaned out. In 2 days, he figured out the $32.50 toy.

I'm thinking I'll put it where he has no perch near it to make it a bit more challenging. After that, not sure what I'll do. I didn't want it frustrate him but it seriously takes him 15 minutes and he's done. The ball I had in there took him a little longer but offered no problem solving challenge.

And he really is my good "boy", got the results today.

It doesn't need to be a problem solving toy, just a challenge, for example the toy I'm using now is just a hard plastic can with nut holes around it, I put chille peppers in there.. very basic but the holes are too small for my bird's beak thus makes it extremely challenging but not impossible.
My bird actually makes angry noises if I put the peppers in while shes watching lol but she's stuborn and wont give up til it's empty!

You people with your smartie-pants birds!

Dear Rb has about a 2 second tolerance for problem-solving. If he can't make something work in that span, time to bite it and yell no and fly away!

If any parrot will solve a riddle, it will be a Grey! Totally agree with making the existing toy more challenging. You may have to be creative to modify the foraging toy for increased enjoyment.
