We're at the halfway mark through the month, folks, let's keep the magic happening and make this the best New Year celebration ever!!

It’s not a great picture because he hates cameras, but JJ’s New Year’s resolution is the same as every year: To keep a tidy cage! Popsicle sticks, paper tubes, loose feathers; anything that he’s not using gets put into his “toy mug.” Unfortunately, it’s not just toys that make it in there. When I cleaned out his toy mug last week, in addition to various toys I also found: four Nutriberries, several stale bread crusts, a bunch of sunflower seed hulls, and some crunchy kibbles from

They don’t, thank goodness! This is in my daughter’s room as we just got her and she is still in quarantine. No dead animals allowed anywhere else in the house.

I always wonder how my birds manage to stay in one place while moving massive amounts of air like that. It's not as though Luna is gripping with her feet. They look relaxed. What do they do differently when they want to get somewhere? Is it a different kind of flapping action?

Normally when she does this she is on her cage and can grip well.
She is trying to dig in with her claws but it’s only visible on her front toes, her back toes are already achieving liftoff..

The photo is a real fluke because she rarely lands on the couch (to visit me). Taking a pic with a cell phone is not an instantaneous thing, it has a good bit of delay between pressing the screen and photo capture.
She was just sitting when I pressed the button but started flapping before the process completed.

When Merlin takes a bath he likes to “taxi “ like an aircraft reading to take off. One day I will get that recorded too.
