Ivory finally realizes she's a cockatoo!!!

So after many many months of Ivory settling in and obviously becoming more and more confident in herself and place in the flock, she has just suddenly burst out of her sweet shell into a full blown pain in the you know what cockatoo!!

I've been joking I was going to change her name and the running favorite was 'Stopitdammit'.... She no longer follows me because she's scared of being left, now she's just nosey about what I am doing and insists on participating in whatever is happening. Tonight I had to chase her out of the kitchen no clue how many times... made tacos... and between shredded cheese, tomatoes, romaine lettuce and cornbread, she was on snatch and run missions constantly. She's also suddenly started the cockatoo hop, have not gotten that on video yet, but needless to say, I'm a proud too momma... granted it means my sweet, fairly quiet baby girl is a holy terror now... but hey, we kept encouraging her to be a too, who said be careful what you wish for!!!

We've had a few moments where she rolls on her back, but then she panics and gets up immediately. But today, she was all about wrestling. And tonight when we sat down after dinner, I was working on some fleece rings for the shelter and Ivory came over to see what she could help with. I piled a bunch of fleece on her and she started rolling around with Byron wrestling. She started going on her back with no encouragement and did not seem a bit worried.

So, proud birdie momma had to share with the only people I knew who would be excited and understand why a cockatoo rolling around was such a great moment... Victoria was heartless, she said what you have another 60 years of this....

I have to tell you something funny Jen, and I hope you see the humor in this. Actually I wouldn't say it if I thought you'd take it wrong... Anyway, I didn't have the volume up too high at first (and I'm on a tablet which is my excuse for what I'm about to say :54 - but before I realized that was your husband, I was going 'hmm, that sure looks like a man... Naw... No... That can't be Jen... She doesn't look like a man??!' Then I saw his whole face at the end and I was so relieved !! LOL!!

Okay, decided not to start a new thread.... figure you guys are gonna get so tired of seeing Ivory or Folger in the title of half the threads in this section!!! We've hijacked the cockatoo forums!!!

But, had to post... Ivory is up from 268grams to 292grams. Between her eating so much more fresh foods and building up all the muscles with becoming a flying white rocket, she has put on quite a bit of weight!! She is a little on the small side for a female bare eyed, but we're so happy with the weight gain! And we do weight checks the same time of day, so we don't have much variance for food. The scale was bouncing 290 to 298, but held at 292 when she was fairly still.

And of course, have another goofy Ivory video... this is the new rope perch swing we picked up for the conures. It is hanging above Ivory's cage, but she won't get on any of the hanging toys, she likes the toys and perches on the outside of her cage for her play area. But, tonight I was 'teasing' her and put her up on the swing, its entirely too small for her, but the first time, she grabbed it with her beak, held onto my finger with one foot and the other foot was trying to find something to snag. Didn't have my camera, so was a big meanie and put her back up... I know, no clue why she loves me...
