I've lost confidence!

Our little girl (GCC, 8 months) typically only bites us harder when she wants something and needs to get my attention... This is always accompanied with a cute sideways look. I often think she's saying NIP "Looks here stupid, can't you see that I want....". It take a bit of figuring out on our end, but inevitably it's always a immediate want for something currently in view in the end. We typically just hold her beak lightly with a stern no, pause, then work on her end goal a bit indirectly as not to re-enforce the bite. We're always learning to speak "conure" at our house.

I would consider to start at the basics slowly before your conure stays in your shoulder again. Conures that are already a year can get hormonal or sexually active and try to defend themselves from their own owner. If your conure keeps biting you here's some methods you can try that I tried with my conure when it kept biting me in the beginning. If she tries or starts biting you give your conure his/her favorite treat or resist the bite and when she stops take her to her cage and ignore her for a few minutes or more if she/he thinks it is a good thing for her to bite to get attention. If she has been with you for a month or more it takes almost some time for like 4 months to get used to you. If she has been with your for a year maybe you need to get researching about how to take care of her more carefully.
