Normally, Scooter the CAG and Ralph the QP go to bed at about 7:30 in the evening. Once or twice a week, I go to hockey games and don't get home until around 10 PM, so the birds' bedtime is delayed (I leave one dim light on and the radio is on at low volume while I'm out). Lately, as soon as I get home, Scooter will say "Good night, Scoot. Lights out!" I guess she's telling me that she's up past her bedtime. :)

Gary, how dare you alter the bedtime routine? Sounds like Scooter fits in well, waiting up for you and telling you goodnight.

Yep Gary...lol..

Almost every night,Amy and Smokey would go nite-nite at 10pm.

MANY a night,if for some reason I was late on putting them to bed, within five minutes either way,Smokey would say " Good night..Good night.."
IF I dawdled..she got louder..GOOD NIGHT!!!...GOOD NIGHT!!!!.. She wanted to go to BED!! she'd then climb down from her roof, swing upside down through her front door and get on her nite-nite perch and wait til I covered her house.
This didn't happen EVERY night, but dang..it happened ALOT..she even knew if the clocks were turned forward or back...when she said good night it was always 5 minutes before,or after, 10 pm.. Uncanny to say the least!

Ralph chose his bedtime shortly after he arrived here seven years ago, and has stuck to it ever since. Most nights, he gets out-of-cage playtime after dinner, and stops whatever he's doing at around 7:15 and looks toward his cage. I transport him back and he steps right in. Scooter was used to going to bed close to midnight in her former home, but quickly adapted to Ralph's schedule. They don't seem to be bothered by the delayed bedtime on hockey nights, but Scooter made sure I knew she was ready for bed this past weekend. :D She's said "Good night, Scoot" quite often, but never said "Lights out" before-- something she must have learned in her previous home, 'cause I never say that to the parrots.
