it's nerve-wracking...

it'd be cheaper and easier for my mother in law to pick some up and bring it back. she goes often to the states and its like a 30 minute trip by car (longer if the tunnel or bridge are busy lol)

Casey, I second strudel's recommendation of Bundaberg ginger beer: it's excellent stuff for nausea. If you can't get that, though, try sipping ice cold soda water (club soda) through the day. You can add a trace amount of flavouring if you don't like the taste of the plain stuff. It really helps to settle your tummy.

I think the symptoms of strong hormonal activity (nausea etc) are a great indicator that this pregnancy is well-established and proceeding along swimmingly. How many 'miscarriages' has Munchlax had, eh? You know perfectly well that young birds will often have an unsuccessful clutch or two before raising a healthy one. Try to hang on to that notion for now! Six weeks is half-way to the magical 12 week breathe-a-sigh-of-relief point, so you're doing really well. From the way you describe yourself, I think you 'feel' a lot more pregnant than you did before? I'm sure you know that every single member is hoping and praying for your healthy baby! XX

im not even sure some days lol the symptoms are off and on and different each day. like the other day i was really nauseous. but today and yesterday i wasnt too bad at all. day before yesterday i didnt have much of an appetite. but today eating house out of home. bathroom trips are also varied, some days i need to go allllllll day long then others i can go a little bit of time between. todays one of my breaks.

days where the symptoms die down i really fuss those days. but apparently thats normal to happen so im trying to keep that in mind. i'd rather be puking all day than feel no symptoms. the symptoms are comforting as mean as they can be to me LOL

im anxiously waiting for monday morning to come. theyre likely just going to do blood work and stuff like that and then set up a date for an ultrasound (another thing i'll start fussing over) unless my OB has the machine in her office.

btw, shes the best doctor i have found, she doesnt sugarcoat anything but she isnt rude. she takes her time with patients and doesnt rush anything and is very thorough. so at least i can count on her for that (you dont know how many doctors ive been to that were NOT what i'd say i was impressed with.)

CONGEATULATIONS CASEY!!! :D :D :D

I'm very sorry to hear about your past experience and your stresses. Just hang in there!

Ugh the FOOD issues! Though in pregnancy weird food combinations can be absolutely heavenly! ;) I am a BIG liver of rare juicy steak...num num num... And indian curries.. But with my last pregnancy if i even heard the word Steak or curry my stomach would churn.. Not as bad as the time i had to go get an ultrasound at 20 weeks with my first, so i drank an entire litre of water, ate an apple, and got on the bus with my husband... Well one particular road was REALLY bumpy... I threw up :S and my husband had to inform the lady infront of us so she could move before my waste touched her feet! All the people on the bus were women and looked all worried, one handed us a roll of toilet paper (don't ask lol). So my husband told them i was just pregnant and they all said at once, in unison, "Ahhhh", smiled and went back to what they were doing.

Still not as bad as a strange elderly man reaching out suddenly to touch my belly.. *hiss* added hormones never help!

*hugs* Praying your pregnancy and childbirth go well!

EDIT: YES! Bundaberg Ginger Beer! Lemonade and lemonade icy poles helped with me :)

hmm im not sure how i will react to being touched myself. on one hand, doctors, family whatever will likely do it so much it wont phase me. on the other hand, i very much dislike being touched to begin with. shall be an interesting experience...

omg dont even SAY steak :( i eat mine blue rare but i cant while pregnant (because again, toxoplasmosis can be transferred that way so they warn pregnant women not to eat steak anything but welldone. no thanks wont touch it at all otherwise) what i wouldnt give to eat some right now! another reason to hope for a good result for the toxo blood test lol

BUT going to ask my OB in person about it. sites source rare steak CAN potentially transfer it, and same with one of my pregnancy books. that will be another question on my list to ask her when i go on monday

if ive already been exposed, bring on the steak :D lol at least i'll tolerate medium rare i suppose if its given the okay. but i may not be able to touch it anyways as my husband put beef in the stir fry the other day and the beef itself did NOT like me. made me gag.

my WEIRDEST craving was imitation crab dipped in honey mustard. and it actually turned out to be pretty good despite even my own surprise lol

and i remember the torture of having to have a full bladder for ultrasounds last time, every dang ultrasound i had to have last time was sooooo hard on my bladder. but i wont complain, not once, as long as i get to keep this one.

So, OB apt went good, everything seems pretty normal right now. They will be calling this afternoon to tell me when my ultrasound will be (said in the next few days). Sent me off for bloodwork, nearly fainted after taking blood due to pregnancy related low-blood pressure (totally normal at this point OB said). Also said blood pressure has been causing my horrid dizziness. Will keep everyone updated. Due date will be confirmed with ultrasounds

My OB okayed the blue rare steak. But I did have the toxo test done with my previous pregnancy, but the results never got sent in so she told me she's going to track them down and let me know. Didn't I say already how awesome she is?? Lol she agreed I should have it done regardless because I live with 4 cats who have lived outdoors at different parts of their lives (destiny is a stray of unknown history we rescued off the streets 3 years ago, and Jessie was kicked outside by a horrid relative of mine and she is also known to kill and eat mice). Plus daystar and gylfie were feral kittens adopted through a feral TNR program. So my OB does think for me that the toxo test is needed.

I am so happy that the appt. went well!
Looking forward to hearing about the ultrasound when it happens.
It helps so much when you like your doctor, and I hope that all the issues you had with tests before don't happen again.

You can blame the clinic doctor for the vanishing blood work lol you see why I'm finally happy to find a good doctor. Like come on, how do you LOSE bloodwork results that were destined to one place?? Lol this is just one of many things from this one... *sigh* now makes life difficult. (oh, you have osteoarthritis here, here, here, and here. take ibuprofen and lose weight. End of story there. Ummnm gee thanks? That's all I get after 3 years of pain complaints? If ibuprofen was so easy, I wouldn't have complained for so long! And I was underweight when the pain first started when I was 16/17! Lol so glad not to deal with that no more, took 3 years to get him to send me for a bone scan to find the source of pain!)

How could you not bother to follow up when you've a patient who has had 2 failed pregnancies? Geez.

Anyway, now you've got somebody good, things should be very different.

Yes I'm being seen frequently with this doctor. My next apt is next month and that's pretty good considering things I hear where most maybe see you once a trimester
