so last saturday we found out that i'm pregnant. (good thing! dont think the wrong vibe here lol) a little late finding out than planned (found out approx 6 weeks give or take a few days).

im just really nervous after last time. the last pregnancy i had been diagnosed with a missed miscarriage. the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks though i was 10 weeks in.

i know this is a bird forum and some may think this stuff is pointless here, but, eh, i dont follow the norm. so ignore me if you want. lol plus, most pregnancy forums are either too inactive or i despise them with a passion (who in their right mind would create a gathering of hormonal irritable women??)

but now that we have finally gotten the news we had hoped for over the last several months, i cant help but worry for it to take a turn for the worst. im almost dreading my OB appointment on monday. im so scared there's going to be bad news given to me like my last one. i just cant settle down with it at all :/

also, feel like trash.

im so dizzy even sitting down makes me feel like im gonna fall over. im scared even to get up and walk to the other room in worries of falling down lol work is NOT fun with THIS symptom. but, at least its a reason to avoid going up on a ladder (i work maintenance where i work, part of my job is up on the ladder for some work, but we're working around that to accommodate my needs)

i didnt have nausea last time, but holy cow can lots of foods NOT agree with me. mangosteen juice that i used to love? NOPE, thats on the top of my NOPE list. water (who the heck gets nauseous from WATER???), some dinner my husband made (he is an excellent cook, dont think im bashing his cooking. if anything its my cooking that gets bashed in this house lol), cranberry-blueberry juice, beef, Dr. Pepper (no big deal, pop isnt exactly healthy lol)... not just that but even random feelings of pukiness happens, though it seems to happen at work most where i do actually lose my lunch. thinking thats not just a coincidence :p

also... what do you all say about dipping imitation crab in honey mustard? it sounded very appetizing to me for some reason. oh and spicy food that i normally dislike. i think that may have been my first symptom when i started putting those hot banana peppers on my turkey sandwiches...

ive been seeing a chiropractor last few months for some rotation in my spinal column and a straight neck (likely a whip-lash type injury from when i fell on ice back in march), and last few weeks my lower back had been killing, but he couldnt find a cause for it. should have known then and there something fishy was going on. but nope, still took awhile to clue in lol

while i'm trying to keep a more positive outlook on everything and keep a sense of humor to keep myself sane while trying not to throw up when i even LOOK at foods that "baby" doesnt like, i still cant help but really nervous and guarded about it all. ive been writing everything down, from cravings to food aversions to worries to due date (should be due may 12th 2015, but lets see what the OB says first), etc and a list of things to bring up with my doctor.

i definitely need to see my last test results for toxoplasmosis (reason why prego women shouldnt clean cat litterboxes) if they still got "lost" because last time everything was all over the place, i will want them to re-test for that one anyways. just for peace of mind since i have four cats (husband cleans the litterbox just in case regardless of test results). more than likely i'd have already been exposed to this and would be immune to it. would make life easier lol

point of this post? to share the news and to share some of my worries and try to get some peace of mind or whatever. any future updates will be kept to this post here instead of a new thread.

but, i am already starting to show a little bit of a bump. very small, but its there. i keep checking in disbelief as if it might disappear at any moment lol

you may or may not be able to see it, if you want to see, just ask and i'll post it. for now, i wont post it :p

all the same, just needed to get this off my chest.

also warning, im very moody, moods shifting between very happy to very cranky. sorry in advance :green: <--- yes, the amazon was on purpose. zon lovers and owners may get the joke ;)

CONGRATULATIONS, Casey!!!! :D I SO love your ticker in your signature!!

Now I'll put my super soft slippers on and continue to tread ever so softly: Take it one day at a time. I can totally understand why you are so nervous/scared/worried about your upcoming appointment on Monday. I'll be thinking of you!

Feel free to let your inner Amazon come out any time you feel like it. ;)

Woohoo!

It's a girl! (J/K I remember reading something somewhere once that girls make you more sick, it's probably a load of cobblers)

It's normal to feel apprehensive, especially when you've had a bad experience previously, I just wish you and your husband all the best for a trouble-free run this time.

I'll tell my galah she's gonna be an auntie, she'll start practising saying "hello" for the bubba. :D

i have heard that wives tale too, with the sickness lol i hear its the worst between weeks 6-12. lucky me, seems i got it this time round.

Congratulations! Considering what you've been through I'm sure your worries are completely normal. You sound as though you are dealing with them better than you may think. :)

I laughed so hard at your comment about pregnancy forums and hormonal women that my husband had to inquire from another room what was so funny. LOL

I had a super nose during my entire pregnancy. Even the slightest hint of an offending odor and I'd be praying to the porcelain god. Unfortunately, I've dealt with nausea on a daily basis for over a decade now and can relate. Eat whatever you think you can keep down and keep Boost drinks or something on hand for meals you just can't manage solid food. Hopefully your nausea will pass in a few months.

I saw the most amazing video not long ago where a mother stood in front of a camera in the same pose at intervals throughout her pregnancy. Then put them all together like a flip book so you could see her baby bump growing and then the last bit was her holding the baby in her arms where the baby bump used to be. I thought that was the sweetest thing. Such a nice memory keeper. If you do something like that you totally have to share it with us!

Congratulations again!

Casey - Keep thinking positive thoughts. Negative thoughts just keep pulling you down and that baby needs you to be up on your best (you are forgiven for the sickness).

I concur that the early nausea and severity just means that baby is right where it should be and has attached itself to you to grow for the next many months. :)

Please continue to share with us. My daughter is pregnant and I have a feeling that I will hear more information about your pregnancy than I will hers. :D

Congratulations! The nausea is a good sign, as Dopey above said.

Try eating small snacks every couple of hours. Definitely don't touch the cat litter. I'm so excited for you. I know that you're worried but as Wendy said, take it "one day at a time".

I did just get back from eating with my husband, went to our favourite corner grill. Feeling pretty good atm, just super dizzy and ridiculously hungry. Ate my meal, my side dish and then some of my husband's meal and I'm still hungry :O but I'm going to bed for the day as that was our dinner (midnight workers, we're nocturnal lol)

Dustbunny, you wouldn't believe some of these forums! They're horrendous! They curse at new people and refuse to answer questions seriously (one forum, see the forum my ticker is from for an excellent example. I just use their ticker because it has a kitty)

Casey - I visited my daughter when she was about 2-3 weeks pregnant and we didn't know it at the time (she lives several states away). It seems like everytime I saw her that week she had her hand in a bag of chips or popcorn...or sometimes even something sweet. I thought it was strange at the time. Then a couple of weeks ago I saw someone else with their hand in a bag of chips. They just carry the open bag around with them like it is just part of their person. So I made a comment to her about her with their hand in a bag of chips like my daugher. And her response back to me was..."well now that I'm in my second trimester maybe I won't have to do it as much." :) So go get a bag of chips...it seems to be the new fad.

Casey, I am so thrilled for you and Devin! I LOVE Dustbunny's idea about taking all those pics...what an awesome and incredible keepsake!
I hope that the morning sickness doesn't last too terribly long:)
Sending all 3 of you big hugs and much love:)

If you can get it over there in Canadia :)D), I recommend Bundaberg ginger beer for nausea (general nausea, I've never had pregnacy hormone nausea). Not just any ginger beer, Bundaberg ginger beer. Even if you don't like ginger beer, you'll learn to if it makes you feel better:) and it really is different to "normal" soft drinks.

EDIT: as for taxoplasmosis, I once mentioned it to my vet for some reason and he told me he'd never seen a case, ever. Here, it is quite rare, maybe it's the same in your area, in which case hubbie can remain on poo duty and you needn't worry. :D

Congratulations, Dear Casey! This is such happy news, I hope all of your days, one at a time, are good days. I love the cute pink addition to your signature.

Ohhh congratulations Casey!!! How exciting!! Isn't it crazy how all of a sudden your favorite foods are totally disgusting??? [emoji33]

Luckily the nausea is off and on, not every day.

We don't have the ginger beer here. We have ginger ale but I'm not the biggest fan ansd don't find it works for me. My husband has been putting ginger in everything he cooks lately. He made pumpkin soup the other night and Omg it was the best thing ever lol

chips, eh... might prefer a box of veggie crackers. I like those. Ah darn it thanks now those crackers sound good lol looks like I'm making a trip to the 24 hour grocery store LOL

Toxo is somewhat uncommon here, but if you've already had it then you are immune to it for life basically. Kinda like the chicken pox. It would be one less thing to worry about. With the amount of exposure I've had to cats (barn cats, strays, ferals, etc) my whole life, better chance I had been exposed already. It's kind of hard for me to see a random cat on the street and NOT go pet it lol I never care how flea-bitten they look. Just need to pet them and love them.

And even with the symptoms still going strong, I worry. The missed miscarriage still produced all the symptoms strongly even though I had miscarried 3 weeks prior to the diagnoses. My body thought it was pregnant still but baby stopped growing and no heartbeat.

I think the important thing is to think about things like toxoplasmosis or listeria to the extent that you have the information to minimise any risk and then just to forget about it. The risk of catching toxoplasmosis is probably negligible. You may be more likely to have a piano fall on your head while you're walking down the street.

As for single miscarriages, from what I understand they are quite common. I can understand why it would make you anxious, but one common "bad luck" event doesn't mean you will have another.

No, in my experience normal ginger ale won't do anything, unless you have indigestion and need a big burp. The Bundaberg brewed ginger beer is a different animal.

The doctor did confirm that the missed miscarriage was my second miscarriage. I had a chemical pregnancy just before that one. So it makes me a bit more nervous this time. That's why they're not wasting time in seeing me early. As soon as I got a positive home test, they booked me in under a week. Last time I had to wait two months to be seen

I've never heard of that ginger beer, but will check around for it. Maybe a specialty store may have it here

oh, ok, well that would make you anxious, but you've got the docs onto it so fingers crossed that this one will be ok.

I looked up the Bundaberg site, they have heaps of distributors in the US, but none in Canada?

I'll see if my mother in law can look for it in the states when she goes shopping over the border since I don't have my passport lol I live right on the border. I can see USA out my window :p just a 20 min walk to the riverfront that separates Canada from USA.
