Hey there everyone! I just needed to let everyone know what's going on over here. First of all, Maui is doing WONDERFUL!!!! I love him SO very much, he's my sweetheart. I can do pretty much anything I want with him/to him and he just trusts and loves me so much, it's NEVER a problem! He is the light of my life!
In regards to Babe, Babe's Mom, Judy has decided that she's not quite ready to part with him and I can certainly understand as Babe has been a part of her life and her late sister's life for over 17 yrs. We had the chance to meet each other, she's a lovely lady and I just adore her and she just adores me too. She lives 4 hours away from me on the other coast of Florida. She and her father, who is in his 80's and full of spunk, came over for a visit to meet me and my family to make sure she felt comfy cozy with us all. As it turned out she was, we made plans to come to HER place to pick up Babe and all his belongings, the weekend we WERE going to come, I became ill so couldn't. We made plans for the following weekend and 2 days prior to our trip, Judy called and had changed her mind about re homing Babe....just yet anyways. We (Judy and I) both decided to just stay in touch and perhaps at a later date, when and if she becomes better prepared to let Babe go, he would come to us. This reminds me, I really need to contact her, I've been missing hearing from her!
Now, for some more news.... Remember my Mom's Sun Conures? Well, in case you have forgotten, she has a total of 6 of them. She got KiKi first as a baby and then a good friend of ours, Kelli, who owns a local pet store in our area, sold my Mom 5 adults...Cujo, Kiwi, Tiki, Mango & Tango.... WELL!!! Cujo & Kiwi are the proud new parents of 3 beautiful babies!!! They are all about 2 weeks old now. Mango and TiKi will be expecting 4 beautiful babies in about 12 more days!!!! It's amazing and we're so having a ball with them.
Several weeks ago, a gentleman joined this parrot forum, he was asking some advice in regards to his 8 yr old CAG and a situation with his rescue Jack Russel Terrier. The dog seems to want to torment the bird and they have tried so many things to try to remedy this from happening. They've been struggling with what to do for almost 3 yrs. After he came here, several of us put in our 2 cents and I actually referred him to speak to "Bobby" because I knew he lived close to us here in Sarasota/Bradenton area. Well, for some reason, nobody has heard from Bob lately So the couple contacted me to see if I knew of any way to get hold of him. Unfortunately, I lost Bob's phone number and haven't been able to contact him myself, so couldn't really help him. We sent emails back and forth a couple of times and it was decided that I would adopt their beautiful sweet girl!!!! I am now a proud new Mama to another CAG, her name is Trixie and she is just amazing, as is her real Mama and Dad! I just adore Trixie and Trixie's Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad brought Trixie to us today, it was a very emotional time.... The bird was scared and confused, I felt the birds anguish, so I cried and so did Trixie's Mom before she left. A few hours after they left Trixie with us, she started asking for apples, we obviously gave her some apples which she completely enjoyed and even said "MMMMMM" "GOOOD"!! I will get some pics of Trixie up soon and of the new baby Sun Conures.
Trixie's Mom and Dad are going to be doing visits often and slowly tapering them off, we hope that will help Trixie transition a little better, as they are all she's ever known.
They made the perfect choice for them and I feel MORE than BLESSED that they chose our family to be Trixie's new family
I've been really busy but I will try to get on here more often with pictures and videos of Maui, Trixie and the gang for all of you to see.
Maui is learning SO much lately, it's amazing how smart he is.
