I figured I'd share this. I've been stuck in my house for the past 5 days doing nothing except playing with my birds. I've been getting soooo bored. Then on the third day, I got the most brilliant idea: I'm going to go through my entire house and take every object possible (and safe), and start my own toy making kit for my fids. I filled up 4 crates of keys, leather, string, old toys, pieces of wood (that i cut into small pieces and drilled holes into), clothes, cardboard, brass rings, anything you can think of (and they're birdy safe also). Then I spent the entire fourth day cleaning all the stuff to get rid of bacteria and that other bad stuff. Then I spent the fifth day making some toys. My birds are in heaven. They love all the toys. And I have sooo much stuff still in the crates to make toys, more toys, and even more toys!!! It's like Christmas all over again for my little fids and me: they get soooo many wonderful toys that will last a whlie, and I get to save big $$$$ so I can at least to some shopping for me :D Merry "Summer" Christmas to everybody! :D God bless us, everyone! :D

Summer is Christmas here.

I love making toys, it brings out our creative side. Well done

It's not too bad where I am, the average winter day is around 14*C Ben & Razy are more South than me so they would have colder winters

I could handle that kind of winter weather...Here,it drops to -30 C regularly in winter!Brrrrr And that doesn't include the windchill. :(

Good thinkin Ap.....Now I'm thinkin about doing the same...could recycle a few old toys too.

What a great idea AP! Lucky little birds!

As for the winter its been freezing where I am, it has got down to around 2-3*C at night. I know its not that cold comparatively to the rest of the world, but it is for Oz. But its 40*C + Christmas's for us down here yay!

Same here!!! i think the record 2 years ago was -55*C with wind chill, it SUCKED!!!! but when it hit's summer,(atleast this year,) it's around 30-43*C plus humidity!!!!!!
extreme, yes, but awesome!!! it sucks that we don't have wild parrots though, that would make it so much better!!! lol, sorry to go off topic... i'm also using old toys too, for training...

43-44*C Christmas is something you can probably do without ;)

What is this 'snow' that you speak of? I have never heard of it lol

I guess I can go ahead and say Ho Ho Ho then, compaired to the temps in Oz its down right nippy here at only 32 degrees celcius.........lol :09:

Ap, let me know when you're done and we'll see about you coming to my house and doing the same.

When I looked at your location, seems to me you live in Texas. It's a bit of a walk, might take me a month or two to get there. I'll start heading out tomorrow ;)

Sounds like a reason to move. :p

I grew up in Montana and have put my time in for bitterly cold winters. Give me the hot Texas sun any day!

You should start walking in September, then by the time you get here, you'll be in for a nice mild winter. :D

Congra'ts on making all those toys for the birds, as you mentioned you save so much $$$$$$. I make Mishka toys as well, and I promise you, they last longer than the ones you purchase. Using your imagination, making everything brighter and more colorful, sure the birds appreciate your hard work.
Keep up the great work Ap. :D
