It's bad news for Shelby :(

Just the other day, Shelby was diagnosed with pnuemonia. Good thing I got her to the vet in time. Pnuemonia kills turtles and tortoises if it's not treated right away. The vet gave me some meds to give her. I have to mush up lettuce into a pulp, mix the meds in, put it into a hand syringe, and hand feed her. She's sooo weak to eat or move around a lot She shows no signs of improving. I'm taking her back to the vet this friday. She's my little fighter. She'll pull through, like always.

Oh no Ap sorry to read this. It's hard having a sick little bird (woops I mean 'pet' lol) to look after, they can't tell you how they are feeling. Just do all you can, give Shelby some extra TLC and I am sure she will pull through. Wishing you the best

Tortoise pneumonia doesn't sound good but you are doing everything you can. Focus on comfort even if you can't do more than you already are to seek a cure. Fingers crossed for Shelby ...keep us in the loop please.

Come on Shelby!!!!! You can do it lil one - you have just come out of hibernation - got alot of catching up to do - places to go and yummy food to eat!!!!

They say its not over till the fat lady sings - I cant sing so its not over!!!!!! hahahaha Pneumonia can be cured and you said Shelby is a fighter so Im being positive Shelby will turn the corner!

Thank you for all your kindness everyone. Sorry for the long response on this. I've been busy giving Shelby 24/7 TLC. Giving her meds and steam baths (and by steam baths, I mean, she sits in the bathroom while I take a shower. It seems to be helping! lol) a lot! She did stay at the vet's overnight for special antibiotics the other day. Looks like she's making a nice road for recovery. She's still weak and frail but she's getting better. Thank you all again. I cannot tell you how much you all mean to me <--- tears of joy, not sad crying.

This is awesome news - yipppeeeee!!!!! Im so excited that there is progress. I was so upset because you had told me all about how Shelby hibernates and I had pictured her waking up and getting busy for summer. I was going to pm you to find out if she wasnt too grumpy when you woke her Great stuff AP!!!!! PICTURES PLEASE!!!!!!!

Thanks Ecclipse!!! Actually, she was happy to wake up. She actually hibernated during the summer, not prepare for it, lol. More like preparing for winter! I'll be sure to post vet trip pictures tomorrow after I upload them.
