is your Grey quiet enough for an apartment?

I had three amazons, three conures, a gray and two macaws in an apartment setting at one time...

Never received a complaint. Mine don't tantrum.

CAGs really are fairly quiet, except for talking and sound effects. Not like big macs or toos, or even conures that way.

There were three other people in my complex who had CAGS.

Wow! Haha this in amazing! Are you home quite a lot providing lots of attention or are they just well trained and behaved?

Hi Jaz,
Sounds like I need to apologize for my "tone of typing." I was not upset, I was in a hurry. I am very sorry to have come off that way and I am VERY THANKFUL to you that when you thought I was upset, you responded so politely - that tells us a lot about your character. You may ask Why I responded while in a hurry and it is because, like you say, I am concerned about the welfare of the bird. I hear, read, and see so many stories of people getting birds that simply do not fit into their lives, particularly into thier living situations, and it rarely works out. I appreciate you clarifying that you are not thinking of adding a large parrot to your house right now, but if you ever do I look forward to hearing about it. Also, I would love to see pics of your new Sennie when you bring it home!

Im so happy you responded, thank you! :-) Maybe others may not have read it the same way as myself, but being a softy that i am, i read it the more "Tonal" way Lol. Im such a loving happy person and felt so worried that I had upset you, its fantastic you care so much for a birds welfare!!! I highly respect that :)

I shall most definitely let you and the world know when i get my Sennie, in fact it would be a pleasure to do so :-) He's still a fair bit away, but im constantly exited about the thought and all my googling keeps me going Lol. Ive read all the pages in the Poicephalus section, so now im onto reading up about all the other species Lol.

See you in another thread :-)

And then you sometimes have crazy neighbors who decide they just don't like you for whatever reason and make false complaints about you. I had that happen in my last apartment. The weekend I moved in my upstairs neighbor complained about my dog barking all night long and supposedly being locked in the bathroom all day and night. This was easily disproved because Rocky doesn't bark even when someone knocks on the door or comes in and anytime I'm not home Rocky is crated. Which was witnessed by the maintance guys whenever there was something wrong. If I wasn't there they would see him in his crate being quite. After that whenever that neighbor called to complain about my dog barking at night they were ignored. So keep in mind you might have crazy neighbors lol.

Hahaha What a grumpy neighbour!

You should have a clause in the lease added if you do adopt.
Most landlords will not consider a bird in a cage to be a "pet" anymore than a goldfish in a bowl. Unless they have prior experience, they are thinking budgies, not wood eating, flying poop staining parrots.

You actual experience may vary but our CAG is the most chatty bird in the house and doesn't make any "loud bird" noises. Even her imitated contact calls to the other birds aren't anywhere near the original volume of the Cockatoo or the Caiques. We wouldn't hesitate to move to an apartment with the CAG alone (the others WOULD get us evicted!!)

They aren't very loud normally, I would rather laugh about what they say then complain about it :D they're great birds

Worked a normal 9 to 5 job plus commute. Left home at 6:30, got back at 6:30. If their needs are met, and they are taught to behave, then they generally do.

When I moved to the house, I had 11 birds, and none of the cage doors ever closed, and they stayed in their bird room (on their own) unless I was home and handling them.
