Is This What my Conure Should Be Eating?

He us currently on the Kaytee Fiesra mix and LOVES it. He loves ut so much that he won't eat his veggies or fruits except for Apples of course. He has been fed this mix since he was weaned, he is one year old. Should I do the switch now or wait until he finishes the bag?

If you are trying to switch, you will need some of the old food. Mix new with old until gradually they are eating only the new food. Keep trying with the veggies and fruits - my conure loves colours of peppers and peas. Try clipping veggies to the cage to make them more interesting. It took us three months or more to get our GCC onto veggies and now he loves them! You can also try putting veggies in the bowl where the pellets are and then taking the pellets out for a few hours. Or sprinkling some pellets on the veggies and kind of mashing them together. There are lots of different things to try. Our conure eats Harrison's which was recommended by the vet - don't know too much about the zupreem or Kaytee. Good luck!

Zupreem is a great food - it's Auggie's primary diet.

Yeah gotta second zupreem because all my Quakers eat that and fruit and hard boiled eggs and fresh brocolli . Also just as a side note , the cincinatti zoo feeds zupreem to all their birds . So I would definately say zupreem .

Yay! Awesome, thanks so much I just hope he eats it. Great thing about PetSmart is if the food is not eaten you can take it back and get your money. At least that is their policy with cat and dog food.

Both my sun and dusky were on the Kaytee fiesta mix. I hated it because they'd only pick the sun flower seeds out of it. It had next to no pellets in it and it was all junk they only get as rare treats now. Both of them are on a pellet mixture and they get fresh fruits and veggies (when I get get them to actually eat it lol they're like picky children. Some days are better than others)

Now I feed them Zupreem Fruitblend in the medium size with the cockatiel on the bag. I get mine from a bird store in bulk. They both tear it up and I feel better feeding them this than the Fiesta blend with all the junk in it.

Oh o know, there is SO much in the mix. APole really likes the sunflower seeds too, I usually leave it until he eats everything because he will pick and choose. I should be picking up the pellets this weekend.

My Nic eats Zupreem as well. I have bags of Nut Flavor, Fruit Flavor and Veggie Flavor.

I mix them up. Sometimes feeding him only one type, sometimes mixing two or even three together...he loves it.

Since his cage is right in our living room, and his food bowl is about 3 feet from my head while I relax and watch TV at night, I like that Zupreem actually smells good.

I do feed it as part of a rounded diet of pellets, Veg, Fruit, Nuts and Seeds (pretty much in that order of quantity)

He also loves pasta, eggs and home-made bird bread occasionally as well.

Oh my gosh! Apple is not very fond of fruits and veggies but he LOVES pasta and egg whites! I have to fight him off of my plate when I eat those things, lol! I always seperate a couple of plain boiled pasta before I add the sauces or us to eat. He LOVES IT! He's a picky one, lol!

His favorite are apples (hence his name ) and he really likes pears but are pretty much like apples. I have tried broccoli, coliflour, carrot, kiwi, orange, and many others... I have tried them raw and cooked. He'll nibble on them and then move onto something else. I gave up for a couple of week but i'm going to attempt it one more time. This time i'm going to blend them into mush, maybe he'll eat them that way.

I'm going to have to try something, I worry about his health being on a seed diet with no fuits or veggies included. I'll keep trying and just hope he decided this stuff is actually good. I snatched a few pieces of cooked pasta before my father was able to add sauce to them for Beefaroni (bleh) and after they cool down I'm going to see if Carlisle or Kayak will eat them. They like to destroy uncooked pasta but I've never tried cooked. I always forget to separate it before I add sauce

Well, the cooked pasta was a success with Kayak. She devoured and then looked for more. Carlisle on the other hand was like a picky little child. I had to try really hard to get him to even take a nibble of it. He always shakes his head no at whatever he doesn't want to eat. Well, his head was going a mile a minute shaking no to cooked pasta. He nibbled it and wouldn't try anymore. I left it in his bowl so I hope he'll try more later on. My budgies even ate some of the cooked pasta. I left little bits of it in their dishes and they tried it before Carlisle would.
