I would not take any chances with my birds. You will also be coloring its skin as well and you don't know what reaction it may cause.

I saw on animal planet that coloring the chicks is illegal in the States. I think it was on an animal rescure show. People were injecting the egg with dye before the chicks hatch. I don't recall the reason it was banned or the side effects.

I like Aussie Ben's idea!

OMG those dyed chicks were too cute! It's kind of sad at the same time though. I saw a pink pomeranian on youtube, the woman kept it coloured pink and I felt sorry for the little guy. Even though the animal may not know any better.
